Uca Students' Union Description

UCA StudentsŌĆÖ Union represents, supports and provides opportunities for every student at the University. We want you to have a great time at UCA.

Ultimately we are here to make your life better as a UCA student. We help students experience new things, shape how they live and study on campus, and get support if things arenŌĆÖt going as hoped.
We are award-winning, separate from the University, run by students and supported by a team of dedicated staff on every UCA campus.

PERSONAL SAFETY & SECURITY UCA is committed to the safety, security and well being of its students, staff and visitors. Although the overall likelihood of being a victim of crime is statistically quite low, by planning ahead and taking some simple precautions you can greatly reduce the likelihood of it happening to you.
Be Alert But Not Alarmed Most crime is opportunist or planned against premises or persons who are unprepared - being aware but not alarmed is the first step i...n staying safe and reducing the risk of crime.
Out And About Exploring the local area, socialising and getting to know new people are exciting aspects of student life but as with anything there are dangers and risks. Consider the following basic precautions to stay safe while youŌĆÖre out, especially at night.
If youŌĆÖre out drinking always keep an eye on your drink, be aware of anyone trying to slip anything into it and donŌĆÖt accept drinks from people you donŌĆÖt know no matter how nice they seem.
Agree a time to text or call a friend to let them know you got home safely ŌĆō is there someone else they can contact just in case you have problems or are going to be later than expected?
Make sure your phone has plenty of charge and credit before you go out.
If you are traveling at night itŌĆÖs best to stay with a friend if you can and take the safest route ŌĆō get to know the routes you will be using during the day then stick to busy, well lit areas at night. Walk on the outside of the pavement facing the oncoming traffic.
Avoid situations that might lead to confrontation ŌĆō cross the road well in advance to avoid rowdy groups or people who seem to be loitering.
Never allow yourself to get into a state where you canŌĆÖt look after yourself or make your own way home ŌĆō this is when you are at your most vulnerable.
Travelling If using taxis book in advance, use a licensed and reputable firm, donŌĆÖt accept lifts from strangers. If youŌĆÖre using buses or trains know the timetable ŌĆō donŌĆÖt find yourself stranded having missed the last bus or train. Sit near the bus driver or train guard and in view of CCTV. Do you drive a car? Lock your doors on journeys ŌĆō although itŌĆÖs rare in this country opportunists have been known to target vehicles or valuable items within them while stopped in traffic.
DonŌĆÖt leave valuable items in view when you leave your car. Make sure you are a member of a motoring organisation which offers roadside assistance ŌĆō some will offer student discounts.
Make sure your car is in good working order and not likely to break down and leave you stranded. Park in a way that enables you to leave quickly if required ŌĆō reverse into the space if it means you can get away more quickly and easily.

We are sorry to say that in light of the coronavirus outbreak in China, the university and studentsŌĆÖ union is taking the precautionary measure of postponing the Lunar New Year celebrations scheduled to take place at UCA Farnham today.
This is an entirely precautionary step, but at this time it does not feel appropriate to be moving a high volume of students between campuses. To do so may cause unnecessary anxiety. Those of you due to travel via coach will be contacted to rearrange your ticket.
We will reschedule the festivities for later in the year. Thank you for your understanding and apologies for any disappointment caused.
