About Ucl Technology Society

Our mission is to promote technological awareness and innovation in the goal of making the world a better place. Stay on the bleeding edge of technology, learn from top innovators and gain integral skills, knowledge, contacts and friendships.

Ucl Technology Society Description

TechSoc is one of the largest societies, the winner of the 2016 /2017 Society of the Year award, and the only all-compassing technology society at University College London, as well as one of the largest technology societies in the UK. UCL is widely recognised to be among the ten best universities in the world by most international rankings, with a very active research community, the second highest research grant income in the UK and the countryŌĆÖs highest overall 4* Research Activity in Computer Science and Informatics in REF2014. Overwhelmingly, the most technically adept students at UCL are members of TechSoc.

Founded in 1999, TechSoc is a well-established society within the university with a mission to promote technology both within and beyond UCL. Through our activities, we aim to advance the technological capabilities of our members, make sophisticated technology accessible to as many people as possible and champion a spirit of cooperation, innovation and practical problem solving that sits at the core of everything we do.

Our events range from the small and specialised to the huge and open-to-all. We host talks from our developers and companies at the bleeding edge of their fields, tech projects for anyone that wants to get started, workshops for those wanting to develop their skills, and socials for everyone to enjoy themselves. We also host a number of careers events with our sponsors to give you unique opportunities to network and secure internships and jobs.

Of our most high-profile events are hackathons, competitive 24-hour sprints where you work with a team to create something awesome. If you think youŌĆÖre not good enough for this, youŌĆÖre wrong. Hackathons are all about learning, building something with your new knowledge, and sharing the result with others. You donŌĆÖt have to be a coding pro to have fun, just an open mind and your best ideas.

Looking forward to 2017 /2018, we intend to build on our achievements by expanding the scope and sophistication of our activities, running more high-profile events and establishing special initiatives for key branches of technology.

In a move to continue promoting innovation within the society, we are also introducing a tech accelerator to support promising projects by providing dedicated infrastructure, expertise, promotion and weekly agile sprints where the community can gather and collectively work on interesting projects.

Hey, everyone!
Bloomberg Women in Technology are pleased to invite you to 'Discover Bloomberg' on 6th February.
Bloomberg Women in Technology (BWIT) is an employee network focused on encouraging increased participation of women and other underrepresented groups in technology. The goal of the community is to offer a strong support network, encourage community members to continuously pursue technical advancement and leadership, helping to inspire the next generation of girls in... STEM.
