Uk & Ireland Woodturning Symposium

Despite three enjoyable UKIWS events, the visitors numbers for 2018 were lower than anticipated, and with more events being organised for 2019 diluting the potential audience, I have taken the regretful decision to leave UKIWS for this year to reevaluate it as an event and its frequency.
Your support over the last three years has been amazing and it is very regretful that this event should be postponed as I know many people have been looking forward to it. The venue and demon...strators come at a high cost and I feel that running the event this year is too large a risk if the event is to continue. I’m sure you can appreciate that this decision has not been reached lightly as UKIWS is very close to my own heart, as well as (I hope) yours.
Furthermore, I feel that a longer period of time between each event would be beneficial both from an organising perspective, and from yours as a visitor.
I’m certain UKIWS has a future. There is a lot of thinking and figuring out to do before the date and venue of the next one is announced though, as I want to give you the best event possible.

Hi Everyone! Thanks for coming along to UKIWS '18 this weekend. There have been so many kind and encouraging comments and posts (and photos) today and over the weekend, it enforces the feeling of family enormously. I hope you all enjoyed your time at the show and caught up with some old faces and became friends with some new faces. AND, I hope you found the superb trade exhibition useful for topping up the tool rack and supported them as well as the event. I'd like to thank ...those who helped out over the weekend - Kevin, Ligia, Natalja, James, John, Wayne, and anyone else who helped hump and bump stuff in and out and around the venue to help the event run smoothly and the vendors set-up and break down. Our demonstrators Les, Jeff, Ed, David, Emma and Stewart were well received and put on great presentations. Thanks guys and girls! The **provisional** dates for the 2019 event are 20th and 21st July.
