Start of Hajj (8th Dhul Hijjah) - Sunday 19th August.
Day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah) - Monday 20th August.
... Eid al-Adha - (10th Dhul Hijjah) - Tuesday 21st August.
The ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah are great in virtue and it is from the Sunnah to increase in worship and good deeds; especially fasting on the Day of Arafah.
Abu Qutadah (RA) reports that the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasallam) was asked about fasting on the Day of Arafah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” (Muslim)
May Allah accept the Hajj of all pilgrims and the efforts of all those at home.

Youth Awareness Workshop (Girls only) Domestic Abuse
A workshop raising awareness of domestic abuse with our youth of the future generation.
... Topics included: * what is abuse/different types of abuse * forced marriage * impact of abuse on mental health * warning signs * characteristics of abusers * clarifying misconceptions * no place for domestic abuse within Islam * the true Islamic character * characteristics of a healthy relationship
The issue of domestic violence and abuse will be tackled from a faith and cultural sensitivity background, essentially covering the core areas of Citizenship.
About the workshop facilitator: Rahmanara Chowdhury is a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, she holds a Masters in Psychology, has conducted several research projects and has developed her own faith-based DV training recovery programme. She is also an author and has several years of teaching experience.

Warm, friendly, welcoming with a genuine spirit of community and learning that we can all learn from, irrespective of faith, age or creed. Not one usually for taking my shoes off in buildings but a small price to pay to share in their knowledge, faith and hospitality.

I was lucky enough to visit during 'Visit my Mosque' on 18th February. From the moment I walked through the door I was made welcome. I have to particularly thank Sameena for taking so much time with me, guiding me around and introducing me to some of her family. I was sorry to leave so soon, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and the enlightening conversations! Thanks again for making me so welcome, with kind regards from Clacton on Sea!

Genuinely lovely people, we was made to feel very welcome. I was very apprehensive into going, however when I walked in I felt at ease straight away and so did my little brothers who made lots of friends and my mum who just loved the atmosphere and is reading the Quran as some bedtime reading!!! �

Excellent masjid. Very inviting and a community hub.

A truly great experience. Everyone was so warm and approachable from the young lady at the entrance who confirmed I had at last got the right venue to everyone who gave the time to talk and answer endless questions.

Special thanks to Nafis and the Imam. Also thanks to the people who made the lovely food and supplied us with tea, coffee etc.

A brilliant afternoon amonst the followers of Islam.

Hameed spent alot of time with us, patiently answering our questions. I came away with a much fuller understanding of your faith. We concluded that Judaism & Islam share many central beliefs.

The food was excellent too :-) .

I wish you all peace &goodwill through life, and again thank you for opening your doors to us.
