Just one of the many pickets across the University where UNISON members are striking for fair pay at Birmingham University.
The Vice Chancellor, David Eastwood is paid £444,000 a year but won't give his staff a decent pay rise.
Shame on you University of Birmingham
... Watch the video to hear the magnificent support from the public for the noisy UNISON members.

The bad weather did not put off the striking UNISON and Unite members at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust on the second day of their strike action. They turned out in force to picket thier workplace in their fight against privatisation of their jobs through the backdoor.

You are never too young to support striking workers
Some young UNISON pickets yesterday at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust, where UNISON and Unite members are striking to keep their jobs in the NHS. More strikes today and tomorrow.

Great photo - our Assistant General Secretary Roger McKenzie with striking UNISON and Unite members, all literally standing shoulder-to-shoulder to stop privatisation by Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust transferring staff and assets into a wholly owned subsidiary #NHSmeansNHS

Great to see Pete Lowe showing real leadership on this important issue. If we are to tackle climate change in the West Midlands we need a Labour metro mayor who understands local government and has a proven track record of working with councils across the region. That's why UNISON are proud to be backing Pete to be the Labour candidate for West Midlands metro mayor - he's one one us.

After 18 months in dispute (longer than the 1980s Miners' Dispute), the Birmingham Homecare Workers have won!
We will post more about this dispute in the coming days.
UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis said:
... "If the council really are withdrawing these proposals, then it's a vindication for these incredible care workers. For over a year they've fought against plans which put their jobs at risk and threatened massive pay cuts which these low-paid workers could ill-afford. It’s been an incredibly difficult time for them. They’ve repeatedly taken strike action, not because they wanted to, but because they knew they had to.
From the outset our whole union has stood with these care workers because their fight matters to all of us – as it matters to the communities these care workers serve.
UNISON members have earned their right to celebrate a momentous victory tonight. And they can hold their heads up high. I am proud they are part of our union.”
