★★★★1/2 “A gripping, thoughtprovoking script, beautifully directed and brilliantly acted. Not to be missed.” - The Reviews Hub
In a backyard near you, in the not-too-distant future, four women from four corners of the globe float in mid-air.
Fleeing war, poverty, debt and environmental destruction, they have agreed to work as society’s latest consumer craze, the status symbol for every middle class household. Their new job:
... Human garden ornament.
As the reality of what they have signed up for (and who they are literally stuck with) becomes clear, this four-way odd couple bicker, banter and are forced to confront what freedom really means to them.
Inspired in part by George Saunders’ short story “The Semplica Girl Diaries”, and developed in collaboration with Olivier-award-winning playwright Bola Agbaje, The Forecast is a big, bonkers and prescient piece about what people are willing to sacrifice for a better life.

We've been doing a bit of background reading in advance of Told by an Idiot 's #AllYouNeedisLSD (Tue 16 - Sat 20 Oct) and found this great piece in The New Yorker . Looks like playwright #LeoButler is joining a longline of writers to go down that hallucinogenic rabbithole...

Wow, simply wow. Fantastic performance which the twins absolutely loved. Sat front row, head on and the impact, eye contact and interaction with the 4 cast members was excellent. Ewan who is normally quiet shy was immersed in the action in front of him. So much so that when the cast beckoned the audience onto the floor Ewan without prompt or hesitation jumped up and simply walked on and let out his own rendition of a howl. The pace and delivery throughout was perfect, keeping both old and young engrossed. A definite new Christmas family tradition has been born. Panto no, but this was 100% better value on so many levels. Big thanks to the cast and those supporting such a well delivered experience.

What a fantastic place to work as an artist! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the space is pretty great. Also it's just got soul. Rock on with your mission, Unity.

Took our nieces and nephews to watch little red and the big bad wolf, we all had a fantastic time. Lovely venue and very friendly staff - look forward to next years panto! ÔøΩ

This small theatre is intimate and cosy. It's a great place to watch people preform. I'd highly recommend people pay it a visit if they see something performing that they like the look of. It is very good value for money and I would happily pay it a visit again if there was a performance on that caught my eye ÔøΩ

User

The Unity is cosy, intimate and comfortable. Acoustics are excellent and the atmosphere is always good. Always have an enjoyable visit there! Staff (volunteers) are always attentive and helpful

Not the horse. Saturday 22nd July 2017.

What a fabulous night me and the hubby had, we laughed all the way through. Cannot wait to see the movie. ÔøΩ Brilliantly written and the acting/music was just perfect. Thank you. X

User

Not knowing much about the show or the theatre we got tickets to little red along with a few other big panto productions in Liverpool.

We were all so impressed by the show. All 4 actors were absolutely fantastic. Singing was great. Story was witty and clever. Excellent use of the stage with minimal props and effects. This was the best show we saw in Liverpool. So much better than those pantomimes - refreshing to see real talent and artists at work.

We took our -almost 4 year old to see it and see was mesmerized by the show.

What a hidden gem. Highly recommended.

Having seen Gaffer last night it affirmed how incredibly fortunate I feel to have The Unity Theatre, the staff and the many amazing artists who are associated with the venue. The breadth depth and reach of the work is extraordinary. A precious resource and an amazing example of what is possible.

User

Been to watch Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf, it's a definite must watch. My children, 3 and 5 yrs old, loved it just as much as the parents did!ÔøΩ

User

Another amazing find by my husband who booked tickets to little red for a post Christmas treat. We all loved the performance but the highest praise has to be that our normally wriggly 2 year old sat mesmerised throughout ÔøΩ

User

Amazing night at unity watching Two weeks.... definately recommend it.... 3 nights left if you get chance xx

User

3rd year in a row attending the Unity for the Kids Christmas theatre. This year is Little red riding hood and it didn't disappoint- great little cast of 4! The show was engaging, witty and an absolute joy to watch. The set was superb and very cleverly used. My 5 year old was mesmerised from start to finish. There was some great interaction with the audience which is the great thing about seeing a show like this in a lovely small venue. An outstanding performance by the male who played the wolf with such fun and wicked humour - would highly recommend this show - family theatre at its best!

User

Lovely venue but doesn't take card at their bar and the nearest cash point is ten minutes away.
