Excellent service and care from the fantastic team at the EGA including birth centre, MFAU and EPU. I had nothing but positive feedback for this place. Thank you to everyone at every level

I had the Mirena Coil put in at Whipps X about 1 week ago, within 2 days I experienced nausea, abdominal pain, bloating, bad breakouts on my face and low mood. I wanted it OUT - so 5 days after insertion I went back to Whipps X A&E because the sexual health center was closed being a Sunday and I was at mt wits end. The initial wait in reception after registration was OK, about 30 mins before I was seen by the A&E GP.
I explained the situation to him and asked if someone could remove the coil, he stated that there was not anyone on duty qualified to do the procedure and suggested that I take some anti sickness medication and pain killers and call the sexual health clinic the following morning to book an emergency appointment....I wanted to kill him...lol.... I was so frustrated that I just walked out...in pain and discomfort. On my way back home to face the misery of another day in pain and discomfort I decided to visit the UCLH which was the next closet hospital to me.
WELL THANK GOD!!
When I arrived I was a little apprehensive that again I would be turned away with the same suggestions as received at Whipps X. The initial reception was straight forward and the receptionist sympathized with me stating that she had also experienced the same side effects from the Mirena coil many moons ago. I was seen by the staff nurse after waiting in reception for about 15 mins and directed to the urgent care department. HALLELUJAH!! I was again seen by another staff nurse who took some blood and a urine samples, she also kindly offered me some pain killers while I waited for the results to come back. About 15 mins later she returned stating that she was waiting for someone from the gynecology department to come and see me......I WAS SOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! After about another 20 mins a lovely doctor called my name and I swiftly followed her into a cubicle...she was lovely and we had a candid chat about the coil and again she sympathized with me. Within 10 mins the cause of so much pain and misery was out and I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief....lol.....happy days!!
Over all my experience at UCLH was fantastic and not just because I got the result that I initially wanted. It was fantastic because the hospital was equipped with the necessary staff and equipment required to complete my procedure, the customer service right from the receptionist through to discharge was kind, professional and seemed really genuine.

Thank you to all of those staff members at the UCLH A & E dept on Sunday 8th October between the hours of 11 am - 12.30 noon who made my experience one that I will remember for years to come.

As for the staff members at Whipps X A & E dept on Sunday 8th October between the hours of 9 am - 10am - I know it was not the fault of the GP that I saw who could not assist me fully or anyone else on duty, I put it down to a lack of qualified staff availability and resources.

I think I will be visiting the UCLH as my first choice from here on.

I took my daughter to their A&E today and am very happy with the service: quick (including x-ray where technicians were great), professional and reliable. The doctor who examined her (I did not catch the name, Carol or Caroline) had fantastic approach. Well done all team!

I just had my baby at the Elizabeth Garrett ward and the service was outstanding. The midwifes were all wonderful, the rooms were spacious and incredibly clean, the after care is outstanding whether it be for breast feeding, caring for your baby or my own personal healing. Thank you so so much for bringing our baby in the world surrounded by such care.

I spent the day in the day case unit having various tests done. All my appointments were prompt except for a delay on an afternoon appt which put my last test in jeopardy of not being done due to time. However a lovely doctor decided to go ahead and do it. She was amazing and her assistant very caring and considerate. Very often you feel like you are just a number when you visit hospital however the concern and consideration shown to me was exemplary. The only thing that did upset me was other patients moaning about the NHS, they don't always get it right but in my case on this visit im happy to say well done to all the staff.
