What is the University of Birmingham Islamic Society?A space on campus in which a diverse community of Muslim students and staff can be themselves without any fear or discomfort. Common Intrinsic Values: Worship, seeking Islamic knowledge, seeking Academic and Professional Excellence, Personal Development, and seeking Lifelong Like-Minded Friendships. An Institution and Organisation which pools resources to promote the enjoyment of these common values for the membership. A platform representing Muslim students and their interests to the University. HistoryUBISoc was established in the late 50s, early 60s and was initially used primarily by International Students studying at the University. In the 1960s UBISoc hosted Malcolm X, and the inaugural meeting of FOSIS. Many notable alumni have come out of UBISoc including Heads of Charities and scholars who are active in the local Muslim community today as well as many doctors, lawyers, engineers and so on.
