Been a thrilling two days at the Geographical Association Conference in Manchester - have experienced some excellent workshop presentations and some inspirational lectures, including some wonderful ways of thinking about ordenance survey maps in creative and 'batty' ways. The workshop I offered yesterday morning (1 of 74 - no pressure!) , which incorporated a number of really interesting approaches to geographical learning that our Undergraduate and Post Graduate primary tea...ching students have been doing, was very well received, whilst the 'Instant Fieldwork' session I lead this morning seemed to really inspire people to want to 'do' fieldwork, with student teachers (and in schools), when time and budget may mean you can't go far - the locals must have wondered what on earth was going on as we did such things as Meerkat mansions, Guardians of the Galaxy, emoji rocks, place pizza, 'runaround', geographiti and flash-mob enquiry - great fun.
