University Of Plymouth Law Society: Debating Description
Debating is the youngest of the three internal competitions and by far the most exciting. A UPLS debate takes the shape of a Parliamentary debate in which two teams of two take the affirmative and negative of the proposition.

After months of debating rounds we are pleased to announce the winners of the Law Society's Debating Competition for this year! Congratulations to Casey Chard and Deborah Kumar-Benjamin! 🎉

We would like to thank HHJ Townsend for helping us judge the final and Wolferstans for being able to host!
The Debating final will be taking place tomorrow! (2nd May 2019) •Location is at Wolferstans, 60-66 North Hill, Plymouth, PL4 8EP. •Starts at 5PM so please arrive before then to watch. •Space for spectators will be limited so it will be first come first serve. •The event will be finished by 7pm during which the winners of the final will be announced! ... •The finalists are Emma Mumford and Emily Parton against Casey Chard and Deborah Kumar-Benjamin!

The Debating semi-final is today at 5:30pm in Babbage Room 415. Come on down to watch the Semi finalists debate for their place in the final!
We will also be joined by two Barristers from KBG Chambers who will be helping to judge the debates.

Hello everyone, We would like to invite you to come and watch the semi-final of the UPLS debating competition 2018 on TUESDAY 13TH FEBRUARY AT 6PM IN BABBAGE 008 This year’s semi-finalists are: Rebecca Harris and Ben Mears Stephen Innals and Oliver Tuck... Lauryn Thurlow and Rebecca Taplin Lily Holt-Martyn and Rosanna Martin The Proposition is: “THIS HOUSE BELIEVES THAT SOCIAL DEPRIVATION CAUSES CRIME” We are very lucky to have Michael Brown and an associate from KGB Chambers judging the semi-final with us. We encourage all members to watch the semi-final of the competition, especially if you want to compete next year or apply for the role of debating officer in the AGM.
