... Sometimes when you are at university you can feel a little bit ‘lost’ especially if you are away from home. By volunteering you can build a strong network of people around you who can be a type of support, this will help with your health and wellbeing. Volunteering fills your time, gives you a sense of purpose and it can also help build self-confidence, doing something out of your comfort zone, with new people and in a new environment. It won’t feel like work, it will be more like a social circle, where you can laugh and learn.

We’ve managed to secure an opportunity for all Sunderland University students.
'Show Your Mussel’ (the Mussel Club and Jak HQ’s huge annual business expo), is being held on June 13th at the Stadium of Light… and they’re looking for volunteers.
Get your foot in the door of your dream career before you’ve even graduated, by meeting and chatting with hundreds of businesses from a range of different sectors.
There are seminars running throughout the day which you will have FULL access to as a volunteer. Learn how to get ‘rich’ in 18 months with The Hand Dyed Shoe Co’s Simon Bourne, and absorb tips and tricks from Gary Lumby - the man who was presented with an MBE by Prince Charles in recognition of his services to the finance industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity for all students, regardless of which year or faculty you’re in. Gain an abundance of valuable skills, build new relationships, and secure yourself a GLOWING RECOMMENDATION as you do so.

Another day and another reason why volunteering is something you should do:
Networking skills 👫... Through volunteering you are able to improve and build some excellent communication skills, which will help you with networking opportunities, step forwarding and speaking with people and organisations who are looking for candidates for jobs. It will also help you to speak with people who could offer different types of help; mentoring opportunities, employer recommendations, company contact details etc. By meeting other volunteers, they can share their hints and tips too! It will also help with personal communication skills, where you can meet new people where you can make friends with.
The opportunity for today is a bright one. On Saturday 15th June the Color Obstacle Rush will be hitting Newcastle! Could you be part of this event? 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️

So this week is National Volunteering Week!
We are going to do an opportunity a day throughout the week, share some information about volunteering with all its brilliant benefits and share a couple of stories from students about their volunteering experience!!!!
... Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. By volunteering while at university, it could put you ahead of the game after graduation.
Even though with volunteering, there is no financial reward, the other benefits outweigh this.
Here is the first reason why you should get into volunteering while you are studying:
Enhance your degree Doing a degree is more than academia, you can add to this by volunteering in an opportunity that not only brings personal benefits but it can be something to support your degree. There are societies attached to universities which have a vast array of opportunities attached to them. You can work with a charity that helps you put into practice elements of your degree. It is one of the best ways to get the most out of your university experience.
