Very helpful and professional. I was in need of this service at very short notice and Daniel went out of his way to help. You know what it's like, you start recording stuff, you learn a few things, you watch tutorials, learn about mixing and gain staging and whatever, but, if, like me, you work alone, you never really know, objectively, where you are with your newly acquired skills. So, that's what attracted me, initially, to Chris's services.. here was somebody prepared to listen to my sample mixes and offer some advice, with no obligation, free of charge.



That's where we started. I explained where I was with my project, what it entailed, a few whys and wherefores, and that I needed the finishing touches put to my recordings, essentially, Mastering and Compilation of an EP. I forwarded samples, and, within a day or two, had a very helpful mixing critique returned. Very efficient. At that stage, we talked about cost and other details over Skype, which, to my surprise, included some very helpful distribution, promotion and marketing advice, a bonus I hadn't expected. As Chris explained, he seeks to offer an added value package to his clients, not simply a one off Mastering service.



I submitted the tracks, via a simple upload, and in around a week or so, had the Mastered and Compiled EP tracks returned for my assessment and approval. I had no problem with any of them, the songs hung together pretty well, so the Mastered Wave files, now, an EP, are ready to publish.



Well now, how do I assess Chris's service? Very Professional. Gold star, first rate. Very competitive pricing, helpful, efficient, no hassle and excellent results, first class, in fact, technically. I am now a very happy client, and looking forward to further collaboration on my future work..

There are many music production/mixing coaches online. This one stands out from the rest. Chris has a knack for presenting information in a concise way. After a coaching session, I felt inspired to get into the fundamentals and make much better mixing and mastering decisions. Now I follow unlockyoursound discussion page, which is always informative and helpful. Chris also has great youtube tutorials!

The team at Unlock Your Sound were very helpful in giving me feedback on a mix I did a while back. I got to hear some thoughts by 3 professional engineers, all who took time to listen to my mix and carefully deliver useful and constructive advice.

On top of maintaining an awesome community on Facebook, Chris and Daniel provide excellent advice on any mix you'll send their way. For free. Daniel dissects the mix and hints at what to fix and how to fix it, in a way that has made me feel multiple times like he knew and understood my individual tracks better than I did, just by listening to the mixdown. Chris then assesses the quality from the mastering engineer's point of view and explains what's fine and what needs fixing. They don't just give you fish, they teach you how to fish, in a very forward and constructive way.

I sent five mixes their way and they helped my bring these to a decent level, ready to be mastered, without asking anything in return for their time and energy.

So I sent the mixes back to Chris for mastering, and was very happy with the process, not to mention the end result. Chris managed to add or tweak that little something in each of them to make them sound great and coherent as an EP. Chris has great empathy and really strives to understand what your artistic goal is, to make a master fitting of your own aspirations. This is a huge value he brings in. I actually rate the entire service 7 stars.



10/10 would make blunders in my mixes again to have Daniel and Chris teach me more.

My first time leaving mixing and mastering outside, it was very educational Daniel and Chris guided me through every step of the process. The result was as expected, great :) I have some other songs i am working on and i know where i will get them mixed and mastered. So if my number of stars isnt clear enough, my song (when it is released officially) will speak for it self, at least mix and master wise. Thank you to Daniel for the iteration on mixing the track and to Chris for mastering the track.

After trying Chris' track review offer i knew this guy knew his stuff.

The service Chris provides for mastering is quite simply outstanding. I have used 3 other professional mastering companies in the past, 2 which are some of the most well known for electronic music, I can honestly say the quality of the work done by Chris at unlock your sound is by far way superior. The conversation between us was clear, professional, pleasant and Chris was very accomodating to any questions i had thoughout the whole process. He was very easy to deal with even when my tweak requests may have became annoying to some. The end result was nothing short of excellent and up there with those at the top of their game.

I will be going back for more when my tracks are ready and telling anyone who needs the service to use Chris from now on :)
