Musician Tom Doughty launches his inspiring tour at The The Bridgewater Hall Tuesday 22 January, 11 am
Beginning in early 2019, musician Tom Doughty will be undertaking a UK wide tour to each of the 12 Spinal Injuries Centres.
... Tom has a permanent spinal injury, caused by a road accident in 1974 when he was 17. His paralysis affects all four limbs and his balance. He has a very limited claw like movement in his right hand and no movement in his left.

For one night only, the BBC Philharmonic in association with The Bridgewater Hall present the only UK performance of Symphonic Cinema, a spectacular event bringing the classic works of two of the 20th centuryãs greatest composers to musical and cinematic life.
Specially created dramatic films, will be screened and edited live during the performance by director and ãimage soloistã Lucas van Woerkum and will accompany the three works. Using specially created software, Lucas will respond to the sounds of the orchestra and images on the screen, thrilling and enchanting audiences with this unique experience.
"Film as an extra voice in the orchestra... Why hasn't anybody ever thought of this before? Van Woerkum has introduced a fresh new way of looking at a fusion of music and film and with his bold project, breathing new life into performances of symphonies around the world." enthused Netherlandsã, newspaper NRC Handelsblad
The BBC Philharmonicãs Principal Guest Conductor Ben Gernon, conducts the orchestra in Igor Stravinskyãs ballet and two evocative suites by Maurice Ravel.

In this unique production the director of the premiere, Kenneth Alan Taylor, steps into Roy Barracloughãs shoes for the dual role of both Leslie and Maureen, original designer Celia Perkins returns and BAFTA Award winning Noreen Kershaw directs.
In this deeply moving and astutely observed play two monologues from a broth...er and sister tell a powerful story from two wildly different perspectives. Leslie, who has lived with his mother all his life, tells of the events leading up to her death, unwittingly revealing the extent of his bitterness towards his sister, Maureen.
