Up-Beat Rock Academy Description

Up-Beat Rock Academy has been running for 4 years with Ian Hooper at the helm. Ian is an accomplished musician who has toured and performed for many years and has taught privately for 10 years. The academy has 4 more professional musicians teaching classes and is always on the lookout for new teachers to join our Academy. There are 4 studios that cover private lessons and band sessions. The academy offers private lessons to take students through their Rock Grades as an option. Our band sessions take our musicians on a journey of learning dynamics of working with and listening to others. We give all the bands a platform via Rock Lowther to perform twice a year. All our bands gig on a regular basis and grow in confidence as individuals as well as a band. The bands vary from pop and rock.

2 of our bands were shortlisted to perform at this prestigious event this year. It was an amazing day, meeting all the people who devised the fantastic RSL grades so rock and pop musicians can prove to colleges and universities their ability to play an instrument or sing. It was a very close call but our band www.facebook.com/TheSoundBand5 won an incredible prize on the day too.

Upbeat rock academy is without doubt the best place to learn how to play an instrument and how to fit in with a band. The enthusiasm from Ian and Julie Hooper and everyone involved is amazing.

Thanks to Up Beat Rock academy I have now played at the Empress Ballroom.

User

Upbeat Rock Academy. Well what can I say.

Here's a thought for any backroom/bedroom musician.

If you have a reasonable amount of proficiency on your chosen instrument, this is definitely the place to evolve into the band member you always dreamt of being. The staff are all helpfull with bags of encouragement, without being pushy. There teaching experience allows them to guide the new member (young or old) from a solo player into a team member of a gigging band.

Give it a go you won't regret it !

UpBeat is where my friends are ... and it’s the best place for my musical ability to improve ... so many opportunities too!

User

Thank you Upbeat for all the fantastic opportunities my boys have had and continue to have. You have developed my children into confident, talented musicians. I can't thank you enough.

User

Thank you Upbeat Rock Academy for not only developing my child's musical ability but also for giving her the confidence to believe in herself and go out there and perform. The teachers are all amazing.

User

My 13 year old daughter attended last night for the first time, she loved it and was made to feel very welcome. A lovely atmosphere about the place.

Ian and Julie have created a place that ouzes enthusiasm and knowledge... it has given myself the confidence to play in public from pubs to the winter gardens empress room..in front of 500 people... they have given the opportunity to children and adults to form bands and perform in a professional way...the effort ,time and patience shown by all the instructors is amazing and is a fantastic springboard to wherever you would like to journey in a music career... I would highly recommend Up-beat Rock Academy to children or adults wanting to grow in whatever music career they choose....

Cai has been attending Up-beat Rock Academy for about 3 years. He’s 11 now and has turned into a passionate, confident musician whilst meeting new, like minded friends and grown his ability to communicate with adults and voice his opinions in a caring, friendly and non judgemental environment.

He’s currently studying Grade 4 drums, Grade 1 guitar and Grade 2 Music Production at Up-Beat, and of course plays with all ages of kids in their band The Loungers. Having performed to audiences in 4 different gigs this year!

He looks forward to every single session. It’s great for your children to learn an instrument, but to be able to find their own style and get to play with children of all ages and abilities is amazing!

Thanks to Andy, Julie, Ian and Lewis for creating such a wonderful environment for Cai to learn and grow. 😁 x

User

Brilliant experience for the kids - hoping more gigs for Undecisive in the future.

User

Amazing, just amazing. The passion, commitment and talent of everyone here brings out the absolute best in the students. All the bands are excellent, my 11 year old loves it.

User

Absolutely love this place. My son is 11 and started here 6 months ago having no experience at all. He now plays guitar and sings in a band. He’s done gigs at Lowther Pavillion, The Waterloo, school and Village fairs and is growing by the day. He also has a new group of friends that he has so much in common with. It’s given him some street cred at school too! We love it so much that I’ve joined the adult group myself. Ian and Julie are wonderful, so welcoming. Andrew Hall is an amazing musician and one of the loveliest guys ever. Give it a go you won’t regret it
