About Upper Shadymoor Farm
Upper Shadymoor Farm
Upper Shadymoor Farm Description
The Farm and its Surroundings
Our farm’s very name suggests an idyll of peace and quiet, and you’ll love its higgledy-piggledy charm. Near historic Shrewsbury, its irregular contours follow those of the original deer park laid out in 1284 by Robert of Stapleton. Today deer are retained in two herds: fallow and red.
Upper Shadymoor is a natural water park, with a brook and 15 pools on our 200 acres. Trout can be fished and rods are available for hire, as is the fly-casting expertise of our son, Gregory. Our own water trampoline can also be enjoyed under parental supervision (from the warmth of the nearby hot tub if necessary! ).
If you’re interested to know more about the wilder side of our land, join us for a wildlife walk, where we explore old hay meadows, the bluebell woods in spring, sunflowers in summer, and the whiffy wild garlic, as well as a whole host of birds including – if you’re lucky – kingfishers, owls (barn and tawny), woodcocks, curlews, coots, pink-footed and greylag geese.
