This was on the news last night and underlines the importance of the parent support groups that are run from Uzima. We celebrate the resilience of those families who faithfully continue to care for their disabled children in and around Uzima Orphan and Day Care Centre.

Just occasionally a good idea turns into a great one but it takes a lot of effort and support to get there. Thank you SO much to everyone who contributed by joining in or sponsoring us...we have raised an amazing £3,951.99 for Uzima in Our Hands! Uzima supports very vulnerable and needy children in Western Kenya. Mungu akubariki - God bless you all!

School is nearly over and for some that means a sort out of old school uniform. Has your child grown out of any of these....school summer dresses (any colour - red preferred), white polo shirts (can have a logo) or shorts - any type - PE shorts are brilliant. If so Uzima can use them and we'd appreciate you donating them to us. In September these items are often drastically reduced in stores so if you see any bargains, again Uzima children would really appreciate you buying them for the children. Please deliver to - West Wight Sports and Community Centre, Moa Place, Freshwater, or The Living Room in Newport - or message us for other drop off points. Please share - Thank you!

Thank you to those of you who said you are up for making bags for Uzima. Our sewing project is officially launched! We are holding a workshop to take place Thursday 12th July, 10am-1pm in Totland with help & support from Lynn Palmer.
We aim to make hundreds of bags to sell for the children in the Uzima Orphan Centre. Can you help? If you can’t sew but can get hold of some nice material, colourful old cotton duvets etc.. or thread, we need that too!
A morsbag is a reusable cl...oth / tote bag made from second hand fabric such as old curtains, duvet covers or vintage clothes. Strong, washable, re-cycled and the pattern is straightforward too, you can find it at www.morsbags.com
Please share this post to any fellow sewing friends and let us know if you’re coming along, we’ll send you the address and would love to see you there and we’ll get going 😃 please email louise@uzimainourhands.org
