Varkalaers, it is with absolute devastation that we have to announce that the 2017 edition of Varkala will not be going ahead.
Our party last year was everything we hoped to be, the DJs and the community feel were outstanding, but unfortunately the weight of the cost of 2016 has taken a much larger toll than we initially thought on meeting budget deadlines for this year meaning we simply cannot continue planning for the July event.
We really are so sorry. Anyone that has al...ready bought a ticket will be refunded (please wait up to 6 weeks for that process to be completed).
If you do have any questions, as always, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@varkalafestival.com
Lots of love, from a very sad Varkala team x

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful festive period, we sure did.
Now back to the music, the lovely Shanti Celeste spoke to Melbourne Deepcast and also provided a rather decent mix to boot. Check it out before she heads to Varkala Festival 2017.

Sure Shot's a breaky roller by Golesworthy, an integral part of the Varkala family, released on Banoffee Pies Records limited series earlier this year.

Check out Bruno Schmidt's stellar mix for Yay, winding through some outrageous minimal, house, techno and electro sounds. You can catch him at Varkala Festival 2017.

Earlier this year, Stamp The Wax spoke to Brian Not Brian (Going Good Records) about his deep appreciation of vinyl, with a lovely light mix perfect for a Monday morning to accompany it.

We're very pleased to present to you the first of a series of mixes from Varkala Festival 2016 for your listening recreation.
On top of having a sizeable chunk of our high-profile sets from August recorded, we'll also be uploading various mixes from artists and diggers that form part of the Varkala family from here on out.
Crump & Cal Swingler stepped up to the turntables as the first set on the final day of the festival. Unfortunately, we didn't record the first 20 minutes o...f the set, which started with a rather relaxed, deep, dubby tone, but for the rest of the set that we did capture, they gradually increased the tenacity, bringing everyone back up to dancing mood and providing the energy needed for a full on Sunday-funday.
So sit back, lock in and Crump up the jam!

Andy Blake of World Unknown headed down to London's Deptford Market and then recorded this mix for RecordReplay.
As to be expected with Andy, his set last year was incredible and we can't wait to get him back for Varkala Festival 2017.

Just a quick one to say a big thank you to everyone who partied away with us at the weekend. The spirit of the festival was incredible and we all felt like there was a real sense of community which is exactly what we wanted to achieve. Not only that, but the DJ's really seemed to provide the top of their game too. There's so many people to thank, but we just need a bit of rest before we can do that properly.
Lots of love from the Varkala team! x
