Vauxhall Insignia in for a routine timing belt replacement along with the water pump. Despite not being up to the mileage interval it was due because of its age. You can see the belt has started to split and I honestly wouldn’t see it lasting much longer. We only use good quality parts - on this particular job we used a Gates timing belt kit, that comes with a water pump. 3 litres of good quality antifreeze was poured in and it was handed back to the customer a few hours l...ater. So what is included in our air conditioning service?
... • Refrigerant recovery - this includes the removal of air and moisture removed from the system. The system will mix and react with the refrigerant and oil used in the system. It forms a corrosive hydrochloric acid that corrodes lines and damages other components in the system.
• Vacuum Cycle – this removes all the moisture, any impurities and redundant gas.
• Vacuum Pressure Test – we vacuum pressure test the system to detect any major leaks.
• Visual Leak Checks – we visually check your air conditioning system for leaks.
•Refrigerant Recharge - putting the correct amount of specific gas into your vehicles air conditioning system along with required lubricant.
• Temp check – our air conditioning re-gas includes a temperature check to make sure it is working efficiently.
Pollen filters can be replaced on request. Prices are for up to 650g of refrigerant. Please note there will be an additional cost for vehicles where the refrigerant required is over 650g and price will be depending on your vehicle make and model and exact quantity of refrigerant required.

We had a local Taxi Driver’s Fiat Scudo Euro Cab in for routine timing belt and water pump replacement. Whilst it was on our ramps we also carried out an oil and filter service as requested. So my question is - when was your vehicles timing belt last replaced? In the 10 years we’ve been repairing and dismantling Vauxhall’s, I have never seen a Corsa D, with a subframe as badly rotten as the one we’ve just replaced due to MOT failure. Another Vauxhall Corsa, this time it was brought in with the customer complaining of a grumbling noise on acceleration. We quickly diagnosed that it was unfortunately the gearbox that was failing. We supplied and installed a low mileage gearbox from our carefully selected stock. The gearbox was replaced as quickly as we could turn the job around, with the customer asking us to put the car through for its MOT - which it passed with flying colours. (Photos are midway through removing the gearbox)

This morning we had a Vauxhall Corsa in for its yearly MOT. Unfortunately the vehicle failed due to both nearside inner and outer cv boots being split and not retaining the grease inside. These were quickly replaced with quality GKN branded parts, the vehicle re-tested this afternoon and was delivered back to the customer.

The last job of today was this Vauxhall Insignia CDTi in for major engine repairs. Through no fault of their own, the timing belt tensioner locating lug snapped off, dropped into the timing belts path and resulted in horrendous damage. It caused the camshaft gears securing bolt to snap and shatter the drive for the vacuum pump. We’re building a quote for the customer in the morning, allowing them to weigh up their options.
