Surprised to see all the bad reviews for velocity cycles. I have used it many times and the service is most certainly not unfriendly; in fact the friendly, down to earth and personable service is one of the reasons I always take my bike in here when I have a problem. I have never felt that the prices charged are unreasonable and have been satisfied with the repairs I've had on my bike.

I'd give zero stars if it would let me. Brand new kids bike bought online and just required brakes fixing and handlebar straightening. These jokers wanted to take in for a full service for £40?! The bike only cost £125. No chance. Took it to Halfords in town centre half an hour later and they sorted it out for £12. Velocity must be the speed you lose money at. Massive thumbs down for these 👎👎👎

Couldn't fault service when I took my bike in to get serviced. Was a bit slower than some to do it but appreciate there are busier times. A gear issue resurfaced and they repaired it free of charge a couple of weeks later, can't say fairer.

Terrible place. Don't get your bike from here whatever you do. I ended up getting a road bike. I didn't like it after cycling it about a mile. I took it back to the shop the next day and he said he wouldn't do returns. We had a bit of an argument. So I sold the bike on eBay.

On another occasion I walked into the shop and the 2 staff members working in there was sat behind the counter eating fish and chips. I smiled and said hello thinking they would jump up and serve me but he said Can you come back in 5mins!! Cheeky sod.

From reading other reviews it seems i'm not the only one who had a bad experience.

My advice is buy a bike from here! It might be a little bit cheaper on the internet, but save yourself the headache of building it and repairing it. Plus the experience is very friendly, it feels like a real family business.

The other reviewer raving about halfords has to remember that the staff in Velocity spend hours every day talking with customers and advising them, they then go and purchase the bike from halfords/internet, and subsequently expect Velocity to sort them out immediately when they need a repair. If you bought it from there it would be free of charge and done as a priority!

Had my bike serviced here after a 'bike mad' friend recommended them. The work was great and staff seemed to know a lot about bikes. It did take a while but this was explained to me when I left it. My view is they were busy for a reason, you dont eat at an empty restaurant because you can get in and out quicker do you ? Overall happy with their service and will go again.
