Here at the park our care for wildlife goes far beyond our entrance gates. We are delighted to announce our latest project that looks to support one particular British animal found across #Hertfordshire, the #Hedgehog. Sadly recent reports suggest hedgehog numbers in the British countryside are said to have fallen by almost half since the year 2000! There are a number reasons that are causing this fall including increased traffic flows on the roads, greater use of pesticides... and greater housing development. Together with our parent organisation Ventura Wildlife and our non profit partners the #VenturaWildlifeConservationFund (VWCF) and Herts Hogline we are helping to release previously sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs back into the wild across the county of #Hertfordshire. Over the coming weeks we will be releasing hedgehogs across the county in carefully selected safe locations where they can start a new life. #Conservation #BritishWildlife #SavingSpecies #Ware #Hertford #Hertfordshire #VenturaWildlifePark #EastHerts Visit Herts Hertfordshire Mercury Hertfordshire Hertfordshire County Council

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our naming competition for our new baby llama. There have been some amazing suggestions across our social media platforms but the winning name we have chosen is 'Inca' suggested to us by Sarah Thomson on Facebook. #llama #babyllama #zoobabies #zooborns #wildlifepark #ware #hertford #hertfordshire

Here at the park we do lots of different enrichment with our animals, this doesn’t always have to be food orientated. For example, this is what citrus smells like to our Fossa Stevie! #enrichment #fossa #madagascar #carnivore #zoo #ware #hertfordshire #summerholidayfun #daysout

We spent several hours visiting as part of the Snake City meet and greet day. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The wildlife park is relatively small but has plenty of unusual and endangered creatures you wouldn't normally see. We all really enjoyed the animal encounter presentation in the Explorers lodge, especially my daughter who got to hold a bearded dragon whilst we heard lots of interesting facts about it's natural habitat and behaviours. The Fossa were stunning, the tenrec so cute, the skunk was beautiful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and always ready to chat about the animals. Thank you for making it a great day!

OMG We had our VIP Lemur Feeding Experience today and it was brilliant. We loved every minute of it and would recommend it to anyone. Amy was so knowledgeable and encouraged us how to get the most out of our time with the Lemurs.

In fact all the staff we met were so helpful, we asked lots of questions about the animals to various members of staff and they were all so lovely, even the young lady (sorry we didn’t catch your name) that was volunteering was so accommodating, and she obviously pays attention because she knew quite a lot too, and she was honest when she didn’t know an answer. We participated in the other animal encounters and again enjoyed them all. The Park isn’t that big but it was a perfect size for a lovely afternoon out. A perfect day topped off with a cream tea in the garden centre afterwards.

I've been twice now once for the lemur encounter and once taking my mum and dad for the lemur encounter. I have now booked for the wallaby encounter for the three of us which I'm really looking forward to. The wildlife park is what you make of it and those that say 'it's not worth it and you can walk round it in a short period of time' are not making the most of it. The keepers are really knowledgable and you can learn about the animals and how they are trying to keep species going. You can listen to ranger talks whilst they feed the animals, when a child is interested in conservation and looking after wildlife it's perfect.

User

A small selection of animals, nothing particularly exciting. Most were visible to see, some you had to look more closely to spot. Enclosures were simple but reasonable conditions. Took us 20minutes to go round with a child. Nothing to stay longer for but could have stretched it out for another 10 minutes if we'd wanted to. Overall worth a quick look as a one-off but wouldn't go again. Definitely not worth the £19 we paid for 2A & 1C. The cost is not really worth it for what it is unfortunately.
