What a lovely evening at Gill Wing Jewellery! The Fire and Facets preview lastnight was packed and I was very excited to find a red dot by my Opal Daisy Locket Mini, sold before the show had even opened! ­¤śā Great to catch up with amazing jewellery friends and the ever fabulous A Thousand Facets! So chuffed to be part of this special exhibition among such talented makers. What is a 'Push Present?' This is a big one for me recently. A Push Present is a gift given to a woman shortly before or after the birth of her child, typically given by the lady's partner. Being a jeweller I get to meet excited recently-engaged couples, long devoted husband's shopping for surprise (or sometimes massively hinted for ­¤śé) gifts for their wives, and giddy fathers or parents-to-be looking for an extra special gift to celebrate the arrival of their child. Jewellery plays such a sentimental part in marking our memories, and it's this that makes me love my job SO much. Here's my two special Daisy Lockets! Ōś║’ĖÅ Earlier this year I was approached by New York jewellery blogger A Thousand Facets (Instagram: @athousandfacets) to take part in an exciting project; an exhibition called 'Fire and Facets'. The project features new and one-off jewellery pieces by leading contemporary British designers featuring opals from Australia's famous Lightening Ridge. Each opal has been cut for this special show by Loren Gurche (@ancients17), a paleontology stude...nt who carves natural gemstones in between excavating dinosaur skeletons. A Thousand Facets has been a fantastic supporter of my work for a while now and I was delighted to be asked to use the opals in my jewellery. I decided it was the perfect opportunity to launch my new mini Daisy so the exhibition features the first Daisy Locket Mini as well as an original sized Daisy Locket, both with gorgeous opal centers. The Fire and Facets exhibition is being held in Londons beautiful Gill Wing jewellery gallery in Islington 17th Aug - 16th Sept where both pieces will be for sale. I'm always working my way through two or three pieces at once. I think it just keeps your eyes fresh and your attention to detail sharp. These two are off to the #USA and #Brazil

Oops, I've been a bit quiet on social media recently.. I've been a little distracted! Three weeks ago we adopted a beautiful 5 month old rescue pup called Nea. She's settling in so well and asks everyone she meets for a belly rub! She comes to the studio with me every day and loves to lie by my feet while I make your lovely lockets! Today was a day for drawing ­¤Æø As an 18 year old I originally studied illustration at Falmouth College of Art. It doesn't happen often these days, (like a lot of designers, I have many a used envelope covered in 5 second sketches) but every now and then I get my headphones on and dive back in. Today's drawing soundtrack was all about London Grammar ­¤æī Thank you to the lovely lady who this is going to. x
