*UPDATE - SKIPTON CHRISTMAS MARKET - SUNDAY 8TH DECEMBER*
The Skipton Christmas Market is STILL GOING AHEAD this Sunday 8th December, however we have had to reduce the number of stalls we have at the event for health and safety reasons.
The Met Office have predicted gusts of winds up to 45 mph and unfortunately this poses a health and safety hazard for some of the gazebos. Ultimately the health and safety of attendees, stall holders and staff has to come first. This is not an... easy decision and is not one that has been taken lightly.
All the planned entertainment, food and drink stalls and market stalls located on the setts will still be going ahead as planned. The Farmers and Craft Market at the Canal Basin is also still going ahead.
Plus, of course, all of our wonderful local shops, cafes and restaurants will be open as normal!!

Skipton Rotary Club are opening up their charity car park at Skipton Building Society tomorrow. Please use postcode BD23 1AP.
It is £2.50 all day to park and all proceeds get donated straight back to local causes.

We have a FANTASTIC festive day planned for you all this year!!
We have a fabulous 150 stall festive market featuring some of the regions favourite artisan makers, producers and crafters!! Combined with our array of fabulous independent shops in Skipton it is the perfect opportunity to make a start on your Christmas shopping!!
... We have lots of entertainment planned too, including a BRAND NEW festive music stage!! What could be better than listening to Fairytale of New York, with a mulled wine in one hand and a German bratwurst in the other?! Live music from Back Chat Brass, Jimbo Lynch Music, Northern Epidemic, Adam Russ Music and Leon Marshall
Not only that but we have plenty more fabulous festive entertainment from Granny Turismo, Skipton Brass, Barnoldswick Brass Band, The Accrington Pipe Band, Mr Cool the Snowman walkabout entertainers, Snow globe, Donkey rides, plus much more!! We even have snow in Skipton!!
Santa will also be joining us in his fantastic floating grotto down at the Canal Basin, courtesy of Skipton farmers market!
And what is a Christmas market without fabulous festive food? We have mulled wine, boozy hot chocolate, mince pies, hot roast chestnuts, German bratwurst, Bavarian schokokusse and plenty more for you to devour!!
Once again the Skipton farmers market will be also taking place at the Canal Basin at the same time, so there’s even more opportunities to get your festive supplies sorted!
Don't forget about the Torchlight Procession which provides a lovely end to the Christmas Market day. The procession marches from the live music stage to Holy Trinity church, which is then followed by carols in the church yard. The procession is led by Barnoldswick Brass Band.

Come and join your favourite Frozen characters for a giant sing-a-long as we prepare to launch Skipton's festive season! *5pm - Lights switch on! Switch on with The Mayor of Skipton, Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, Frozen characters and competition winner Olivia Mitton!
We have plenty going on from a festive donkey display to face-painting, to funfair rides, bird of prey, cooking demonstrations, a giant snow globe and a nativity dress up selfie station!! Plus much more!!
As usual the Skipton shops and businesses have plenty to offer so we urge you all to support our local businesses where possible! There are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants and independent shops so please support them whilst in the lovely town!!

Santa Claus and Mrs Clause will be making a grand entrance to the Skipton Christmas Lights Switch On as they arrive in style on their sleigh pulled by their Shire Horses - all thanks to the Lister Arms at Malham and Thwaites Brewery!
At 2pm Santa Claus and Mrs Claus will make their way on to Skipton High Street where they will do a meet and greet with the children, have pictures and the children can meet the Shire Horses!!... This is FREE as part of the full day of free festive entertainment on Skipton High Street!
Make sure you get down in plenty of time to welcome Santa and Mrs Claus to Skipton and then let them know what is on your present list this year!!
