In April 2017, the band recorded their debut 3 Track EP entitled ‘Different Pathways’ with Sam Bates at Western Audio in Swindon. As everyone in the group has different influences, the sound isn’t one that can be pinned down easily. But the styles of Blues, Indie and Rock definitely shine through in their original songs.

SOUNDCHECK featuring COSMIC NINJA
Bristol based Cosmic Ninja produce a blend of rock and electronica that builds bridges between influencers The Prodigy, Skunk Anansie, Faithless & Pendulum
"Creating something different and unique is really important to us. It is the challenge of this fusion that is the driving force behind the band. Whether it's catchy chorus', massive riffs, dance breaks or synth mayhem, Cosmic Ninja is a project where you can experiment, where you can break the mould and any pre conceptions of what it means to be in a band."

SOUNDCHECK featuring WILL LAWTON & WEASEL HOWLETT
Free Facebook Live gig @visualradioarts
“Will's piano-based songs and Weasel's superb drumming on a stripped-down kit make a heady and hypnotic sound that's both highly original and hugely accessible” - Grapevine for Music
... Will Lawton & Weasel Howlett started collaborating musically in 2015. After three years of jamming, performing and recording they released their debut album 'Fossils Of The Mind' in January 2018.
They had the immense pleasure of recording the music at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, England.
With influences ranging from grunge and punk, to prog rock and jazz, Weasel is a master of rhythm who plays with time, and creates both a creative space and a driving heartbeat for Will's melodic chords.
Will has played piano since the age of 12, releasing his first music on tape to his school friends. His bands have ranged from funk-soul, to folk, to electronic dance music, but he has come to rest as a singer-songwriter with a rock and jazz influence.
Fossils of the Mind is the culmination of Will's songwriting career and Weasel's rhythmic influence, and marks the maturation of a compelling and talented duo who bring inspiration from opposing genres of music to create something entirely their own.

VRA is a groundbreaking group in this area. It provides the public with a window into previously unaired musical acts and provides artistes with a way to get their music heard and hone their performance skills. Thank goodness someone is doing something positive for The Arts. Viva VRA!

There are amazing bands and musicians in the South West and Soundcheck is one of the few ways of getting to see them perform without having to leave the house - all streamed live to your laptop. Don't overlook the remix version that we post about a week later as well. Better video, better audio and more information. If you've been following Soundcheck you will have seen about 25 bands in the last 6 months or so, with no tickets to buy, no car parking, no babysitting costs. You're in the front row not at the back of a hall. No queue for the loo. What's not to like?

User
