TELL TESCO TO DO THE RIGHT THING
During our second visit to Hogwood Horror Farm we found little had changed. We discovered that the farm is still using filthy farrowing crates, where mothers are forced to give birth on the cold concrete floor as well as severe overcrowding and sick pigs dumped in gangways.

As we at Viva! found - after all Tesco's so-called 'animal welfare assurances' - ill pigs dumped in a gangway with no access to even water and, horrifically, a pig who was being eaten alive.
It was almost exactly a year ago when I filmed the Hogwood pigs. On a summer evening, I filmed undercover on a ‘farm’ in Oxhill, Warwickshire, which was a huge industrial complex. As I began, my heart sank at what I witnessed.
I recorded severe overcrowding, pigs covered in excreta, barren, filthy conditions, animals abandoned to die, cannibalism of corpses left to rot amongst the living and decaying piglets were engulfed in a sea of writhing maggots. You may recall, that I belly rubbed a poor dying sow. The cruelty and neglect inside Hogwood was absolutely horrific and heart breaking.
Since our investigation, Hogwood has been surrounded with high fencing, barbed wire, CCTV and alarms, making re-entry - let’s say – challenging! However, following another tip off we decided we had no choice but to risk it as we could not bear to think of Hogwood pigs still suffering.
A year on and has anything changed?

I have spent four years in an agricultural college in the nineties, i went there because i always loved animals and grew up with them in a little village. Of course i was horrified seeing the "factory farm" practices, but at least i learned how i must not do things. So i was aware what is going on, and i can thank Viva! to realise that most people doesn't know and sometimes it is enough to show them the reality to make them think.

Great sources for new and old vegans alike. They do great work for animals and never back down, they are truly an organisation to look up to. When I converted to vegan from vegetarian last year, their resources helped make this so easy to do and made me wonder why I hadn't done it before � thank you Viva! �

Great source to open your eyes to what's rally going on in the world of meat, dairy and egg consumption... They made my decision to go vegan an easy one.
