Watched England vs Sweden at Walkabout Newbury today with 4 x 12 year old kids. Security Staff in Walkabout REALLY looked after us, made sure kids had water and got out safely at the end of the game. Lovely venue with a nice little selection of cask ale and bitter, serve a cracking pint of Guinness and the food is fantastic....especially the burgers and the chicken Parmis ÔøΩ

Absolutely brilliant, the food and atmosphere was amazing.

A complete change from the Diamond Tap Newbury since the re-furb. The venue is now full of bright colours and amazing hand graffiti artwork!



The food menu is simple and very reasonably priced - great quality as well. Not had any complaints so far!



Multiple TV's around the venue so great for watching all the sporting events - where ever you stand or sit you can see a big screen!

Where do I start?? Walked up to bar to find it wetter than the ocean, waited so long to be served I could of brewed my own ale in the time, when finally did get served the coke syrup had ran out, when I finally got to tell staff to change it I wasn't even offered a fresh drink or thanked for pointing it out and the pint for my friend had so much head you might as well served us a half pint!!! No smile, no manners. No standards!!!! Staff training is a MUST ASAP!!!!!! Shocking.

Really terrible experience, bought drinks and then bouncers aka bullies grabbed me and threw me out!

Because I poured my drinks into 1 glass? Seriously!!!!!

Our company basically where the only people in the place and this is how you treat people! Robbery! I want a refund!

I wouldn’t even rate it 1 star. Me and my friend were sat at a table and needed 1 extra chair. We saw an empty table so took a chair and added it to our table. During this a member of staff called Kayleigh came over and asked us if we could put the chair back as the table was reserved. This was fine we gave the chair back she then came back and proceeded to try take another of or chairs which we had at the table from the start. We told her that the chair was at the table when we came Into the pub but she was having none of it demanding she took it to the reserved table as they had paid for a table but it had no chairs. I had just paid for some food and brought a drink so surly I have as much right as them to have a chair?! Just because I hadn’t reserved a table doesn’t mean I have no right to a chair!. This carried and she started getting very irate with me and my friends shouting at us telling us she was taking the chair away. We disputed this purely because we hadn’t taken that chair. She has rightfully taken the chair back which we had moved therefore she had no need to take an extra chair. She continued to take the chair away so this left my friend with no chair and no where to eat her food. She came back and told us her door staff would be on in 15 minutes and she would be getting us kicked out! All for moving a chair. We challenged this as every table around us had moved chairs and had more chairs on their table than the right amount, but she wasn’t bothered about them just us. Her attitude was foul and the whole establishment is a shambles. How dare she talk to paying customers the way she did. Carrying on the door man came over and very rudely and aggressively pointed to me and my friend and said you and you out now. We explained the situation and how stupid it was but the door staff wasn’t bothered. I think Kayleigh needs a lesson in customer service and to not be so rude to her paying customers. We didn’t even get to eat our food or finish our drinks as we got kicked out. So I wasted money on this shambles of a pub just to get kicked out. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone and I will be writing a formal complaint. Avoid this place if possible it’s not worth wasting your time or money.

I went in to walk about with my bf at around 1pm on Saturday to watch the World Cup, there were two tables left, I selected the table that had five chairs on it as had a group of friends joining. Me and my boyfriend ordered food and drinks and all was fine. Later on my friends came and we needed one more chair, there was a table on its own with chairs around it. I grabbed a chair and put it around our table. A second later a employee called ‘katie’ Approached the table insisting I had taken two chairs I said I had taken one chair, she became very rude to me, my bf and my friends insisting we were lying and being rude. We wasn’t we was clearly stating our opinion, I explained to her I didn’t know you couldn’t take chairs and said she could take it back, instead she took 2 chairs from our table even though our friend would then be losing her chair. She then said she would speak to management an we would not be watching the game. I felt thIs was disgusting as the table next to us had taken garden chairs and added them to their table and other people had done this also, I felt we were singled out because we were of a younger generation and I think it’s disgusting how we were treated, the bouncer also kicked us out over this meaning we had to leave the drinks we had payed for, we were not able to explain our situation and therefore will not be returning.
