Meet the cast of Walkerville Musical Society’s “Sister Act”.
LISA HARLAND Lisa joined Walkerville many moons ago. In her first show with the society, she reprised the title role of little orphan “Annie”, (a role that was her introduction to the stage in 1993 at the beautiful Tyne Theatre), and she has since enjoyed taking part in many musicals and pantomimes over the years, with Walkerville and with several other societies. She has been lucky enough to play some of her favo...urite roles, including The Baker’s Wife in “Into the Woods”, Louise aka Gypsy Rose Lee in “Gypsy”, Emma in “Jekyll and Hyde”, and Charity in “Sweet Charity”. With Walkerville, her favourite roles have included Eliza in “My Fair Lady”, Reno in “Anything Goes”, and Anna in “The King and I”. In pantomimes, she regularly plays the Principal Boy role, but has also loved playing the baddie as “Carabosse” in Sleeping Beauty and engaging her inner Antonio Banderas as “Puss” in Puss In Boots. In Sister Act, Lisa plays the role of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe night-club singer, who witnesses a murder committed by her own boyfriend, night-club owner Curtis Jackson. In exchange for police protection, she reluctantly agrees to testify against him, and for own safety, is forced to take refuge in a convent disguised as a nun, Sister Mary Clarence. Here, her “wayward” characteristics ensure that she is constantly butting heads with the Mother Superior, as well as repeatedly putting her own life at risk. But her unorthodox musical style ironically serves as a means to save the ailing convent - that is if she can manage to avoid Curtis’ vengeful bullet… Will she survive to tell the tale and fulfil her dream? Meet the cast of Walkerville Musical Society’s “Sister Act”.
BRIAN METCALF Brian has been watching shows at Walkerville Musical Society for countless years. In 2017 he joined them onstage to play a gangster in Guys and Dolls and has since taken part in two pantos, a few concerts and is now in Sister Act. Both his sons sing with the society, in the junior and senior sections, and Brian has enjoyed joining them on stage! He has also performed in some murder mystery nights with ...members of the society. Character. Brian plays Monsignor O'Hara who is one of the heads of the convent. The Monsignor is concerned with finding the financial means to keep the struggling convent afloat. Not an easy task. His exposure to soul music produces a surprising change in his mood!

Meet the cast of Walkerville Musical Society’s “Sister Act”.
HELEN RICHARDSON Helen joined WMS 15 years ago and has performed in all pantos, shows and concerts ever since. She has enjoyed playing many roles from Evangeline Harcourt in Anything Goes, Agatha in Guys and Dolls through to numerous good fairies and the Empress of China in panto. Enjoyable roles with other societies have included the Heavenly Friend in Carousel and most recently Mrs Hedgehog in the Wind in the Will...ows. Helen plays Sister Mary Lazarus - the elderly cantankerous nun who loves rapping! An experience not to be missed!!!

She has been performing shows for many years with other societies and enjoyed playing comedy roles such as Dulcie in The Boyfriend, Ermengarde in Hello Dolly, Meg Brockie in Brigadoon and Mrs Squeers in Smike. Meet the cast of Walkerville Musical Society’s “Sister Act”.
IAN NUGENT Ian first slunk onto the Walkerville stage as the villain Fleshcreep in their 2015 production of “Jack and the Beanstalk” where, like a true hero, he fought Jack (Lisa Harland) in a finale that seemed to get increasingly violent as the week went on! He has since played Lun Tha in “The King and I”, and Sky Masterson in “Guys & Dolls” at Walkerville, as well as recent principle rolls in “Joseph” and “Comp...any” in nearby Felling.
In Sister Act, Ian plays Joey, one of Curtis’s thugs and self-professed ladies’ man. Loyal, obedient… and man, he’s smooth!
