VIA THE WILLIAM MORRIS GALLERY:
A message from new artists-in-residence Priya Sundram and Nia Thandapani:
"As part of our work as artists in residence at the William Morris gallery we have been exploring the ways in which Morris was inspired by South Asian art and design.
... We see this as an opportunity to bring in narratives that have been left out of the larger story of Morris and bring fresh new voices and stories into the gallery.
"As part of our residency we are creating an alternative guide to the gallery and weŌĆÖd love to hear from anyone who has visited the gallery and found connections between William Morris' work and South Asia. Or perhaps you have noticed a larger connection between the arts and crafts movement and South Asian visual or material culture.
You can send your idea to us via email: hello@studiocarrom.com or via social media - Facebook: @studiocarrom Twitter: StudioCarrom Instagram: studio_carrom"

TONIGHT.
Need to decompress, be kind to yourself and explore your body?
Come move and meditate with www.firmfeet.co.uk by dancing in the dark at The CentrE17 this evening.
... "In darkness, there is no visual stimulation, which allows us to drop deeper into meditation, get out of your mind and into the body. A chance to go inwards and connect deeply with yourself. Dancing can boost your overall happiness, release serotonin and endorphins, balance the mind and body and is a great form of low impact cardiovascular exercise."
Led by Firm Feet's Charlie Boyd with a Hedge Herbs herbal tea meditation afterwards. Doors open 19.30. Book via the event page.

SAVE THE LIMES!
Local artists request that Waltham Forest Council reconsider their original decision to fell 81 beautiful, mature and mainly healthy trees in our town centre.
With the petition below the council is asked to ensure the survival of these trees instead of cutting them down as part of the proposed redevelopment of The Mall in Walthamstow town centre.
... An independent Arboricultural Report (August 2018) has questioned this decision and stressed that the CouncilŌĆÖs plan to plant new trees can never be an equivalent to removing a mature tree. ŌĆ£The ecosystem services of carbon capture, pollution mitigation, shading, air cooling, wind break, flood control, etc. are all vastly greater with a big old tree than any new planting. Replacement, if it is to mean equivalence, would require a planting ratio in the order of 100:1, and even then many benefits would still be missing for decades to comeŌĆØ.
Please take action!
