Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary Description

Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary was founded in 1961 by Mrs Geraldine Wagstaff in her family home in Ramsgate, Kent. The Sanctuary has been at its current location in Cranham, Essex since July 1976. We have rescued all sorts of animals ranging from horses, ponies, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, other small animals, birds etc. We have a non destruction order so any animals that come into our care stay with us until they are rehomed. Certain animals which cannot be rehomed due to past problems and issues live at the sanctuary.

All dogs and cats rehomed are neutered before adoption, if animals aren't old enough, a neutering agreement will be signed by new owners.

All our animals are rehomed on a Life Time Adoption. This means that for whatever reason new owners can no longer care for the animal, they must be returned to the sanctuary. No matter how long the animal has been rehomed for.

Animals that are microchipped stay in the Sanctuary's name, with new owners added. If the animal is lost and scanned the Sanctuary and new owner are notified.

We are a non profit organisation and recieve no government funding. Your donations of money, newspapers, bedding and items to sell at boot sales are only what keep us going.

Donations can be made direct to our vets. This money will then be put on our account and help us out a great deal. Hill Park Vets in either Harold Hill 01708 344455 or Elm Park 01708 458424 under the account 'Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary'.

we could not keep our gates open if it wasn't for the generous members of the public.

Cookie has been with us sometime now looking for her new home. Cookie is 5years old and a very lovely girl! Cookie needs a commited and dedicated owner as she is destructive at home. Cookie has chewed and pulled up flooring, sofas, carpeting, furniture. We have to be honest. Cookie isn't destructive at the sanctuary. She isn't a stressed or anxious dog.... Cookie can be reactive with some dogs and would prefer to be the only dog. No cats. Cookie can live with children. Cookie is such a loyal and loving dog. She has become a favourite of various dog walkers as she is such a joy to be around. Please only serious applications for Cookie.

Neil Hall, a member of the Hornchurch Round Table put the sanctuary forward as one of their chosen charities recently, telling them about the sanctuary, hopeful future projects and about the work we do. Jodie Marsh came to the sanctuary Wednesday evening to deliver 23 large sacks of dog food. When a particular item of clothing was purchased from Jodies website, Jodie kindly bought a bag of food from Pets Local in Takeley and Alison from Pets Local very kindly matched the donation. Belle and Tiny are looking for a new home together. They are 3year old siblings. Belle and Tiny would prefer a home without other dogs and cats but can live with children. They are used to being left for a few hours. They love their walks and Belle in particular loves her toys.

We have many mice looking for pet homes as same sex pairs of groups.
Please be aware we will not let our small animals go to homes because "the children want one". The majority of our small animals are looking for new homes due this very reason and the novelty wore off. They need daily cleaning, feeding, handling and are a commitment. They can certainly be a family pet where all can become involved with a responsible adult as their main carer. Home visit will apply for all the animals.

People often ask us how they can help the sanctuary. Anyone can help us help the animals in a variety of ways. We are home to a variety of animals, each with different needs. We often need donations of bedding for the animals-towels, sheets, blankets, etc. Bales of hay and straw and fresh greens for our farm animals and little animals (rabbits and Guineas).
... Animal feed - dog, cat, kitten, goats, sheep, rabbits, Guineas, ferret, chicken and duck. We have food drop off points at The Mercury Mall Romford, Wilko Romford, Jollyes Petfood Superstores Romford, Hill Park Vets elm park and Harold Hill and off course the sanctuary.
We use a lot of newspapers.
Liking and sharing our posts on social media - you never know who may be looking for a new companion.
You can donate via PayPal to whasdonations@aol.co.uk
We have an Amazon Wishlist with many items on for the animals and every day use around the sanctuary.
We hold events throughout the year and boot sales, we are always grateful for items to sell at these. Unwanted gifts, electrical items, etc.
Volunteering- helping in the cattery cleaning and fussing the cats, dog walking, helping muck out the farm animals and little animals. You could be a fundraiser for Wanderers Haven - helping at events, holding fundraising events, raffles etc.
Our vets is Hill Park Veterinary Group ltd, a donation can be paid straight off of our account - Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary. Our vet bill is always in need of donations.
Contact email wanderershaven@aol.co.uk
Contact phone 9am - 6pm 07763646257 CLOSED TUESDAY'S AND SUNDAYS. OPEN OTHERWISE BY APPOINTMENT.
We hope this helps. Thank you all very much for your help and support it is very much appreciated. ¤śĆ¤ÉČ¤Éö¤É▒¤É░¤É╣¤ÉÉ¤Éæ¤”ā¤Éó ¤ÉŹ

The staff, mostly volunteers, go out of their way to help visitors. Please support our local sanctuary. Thank you folks at Wanderers Haven for my little angel.

Wanderers haven is a wonderful place. I had a great experience walking few of their dogs and really canŌĆÖt wait to go back and meet more of the little furry residents ’┐Į’┐Į

Wanderers do a wonderful job, had two dogs from them (1 for us and another for my parents) they really try hard to make sure you are matched to your prospective pet, which saves a lot of heartache all round. Would highly recommend anyone to use them

User

Wanderers Haven is run by a fantastic team of staff and volunteers, who do an amazing job looking after the many animals - big and small - that come through their doors. All donations are greatly received and go towards the care of the animals and the upkeep and improvement of the facilities provided for their furry residents.

My family were so so lucky to find our perfect pair of puss cats at Wanderers. They've bought so much love and laughter to us after loosing my gorgeous Tiggs. If you are looking for a rescue that truly cares and loves it's animals, Wanderers is the place to go. I'm so glad that Rosie (was Donner) and Bertie both chose us. We were given plenty of time with all the cats, the volunteers were so lovely and patient and we just knew that we were in the very best place to find our forever furries. Highly recommended them to anyone!! Thanks so much for all you do guys xxx

I got my two girls (cats) from this sanctuary and staff are so friendly and caring. They came round to assess my home at a convenient time for me and my girls have settled in like part of the family. They also helped with rehoming my grandads dog when he passed away. I'd definitely recommend to anyone.
