Need I say anything? This place is the best warhammer shop I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. From Florence to Kendal and everywhere inbetween I have encountered none that come close. It dwarfs even warhammer world a lot of the time (maybe not bugmans 😉) great stock great people it's like a second home

My favourite place in the world to buy toy soldiers!! Two stalwarts of hobby greatness with mad skills to make paint bend to thier very will make for a great hobby centre!!

I've been dropping by off and on since it was Games Workshop in Cathedral Lanes, I've never been a big customer with the most I spent at any time being £50. Always greeted and given attention but never hassled or given "the hard sell".

I've been painting and playing off and on for two decades now although most of the GW games I play these days have been OOP for many years. My interest was reignited by Shadespire and I bought a copy just before Christmas.

Long story short I'm back into painting in a big way to the point that my Lady Wife started to wonder why I was lurking in the kitchen of an evening and decided to see what I was up to: she always knew I gamed but didn't really see the correlation.

Which brings me to this review.

Having decided to have a go at an old Heroquest figure I had rattling about Hayley asked where everything came from: cue a potted history of my experience of GW from the late 80's and a trip to the Coventry Warhammer store.

The plan was we'd meet when I finished work and head down together. Given that H has bad knees, back and hip, walks with crutches and usually hires a mobility scooter to get around town I thought I should warn the store to expect us. Which I did Thursday evening.

This is when the epic customer service kicked in...

Having confirmed that access wouldn't be a problem (they have a ramp) there was an offer to bring in a folding table from home to make her more comfortable. And then on the day...

I arrived in Cov after work and duly called to be told: "I'm in the paint shop, painting. Hurry up." Suitably chastened I made my way to the store and found Her Ladyship comfortably ensconced at the painting table with a coffee and a Storm cast figure receiving instruction on how to best apply edge highlights. Her shopping had been carried inside for her and she was utterly at ease.

Other customers and regulars came in and all were given attention, but, never smothered. I was greeted and then left to look around.

I could go on for volumes more but I'm pretty sure no one will read this far (first and last paragraph generally suffice).



TLDR;

Arrived, great service, Missus bloody ecstatic, free mini, painting tutorial, bought "First Strike" and a few bits. Wife is now planning next purchases- this is going to cost me a fortune!

Great store, great people, great at teaching beginners

Easily the best Games Workshop store I have been to. Dave and Stu are both friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, and have always been willing to take the time to give advice on tactics, hobby or purchases. I highly recommend going and spending some time using the available hobby space to work on your projects - between the staff and the other customers you'll find someone interesting to talk to, and they might even make you a coffee!

Dave's got great advice and suggestions.....and all the staff are really helpful.....always nice to stop in for a chat about the hobby and our latest modelling projects!

Dave is absolutely superb. He took time to show my son how to paint and play and answered all our questions. Very friendly and helpful.

Dave and Stuart make going to this shop a great experience. They are both friendly and helpful, answering any enquiries customers have. I have recently started collecting Warhammer miniatures and both men have helped out tremendously, while having a laugh at the same time!



Also, the people that attend the shop are really nice too, like a mini-community of sorts!

Dave and Stuart did a great job helping me get Into the hobby, told me everything I wanted to know about the game and also gave me a painting lesson and a free miniature. Everyone there is friendly and are a great bunch. Would highly recommend the hobby and the games workshop store
