We were privileged to celebrate the ministry and retirement of Major Graham Longmore this morning, Sunday 14th July.
With warm personal words of appreciation from Lieutenant-Colonel Marion Drew and Major Graham Carey, our Divisional Leaders, Majors Roger and Noreen Batt led a meeting that traced Graham’s journey through officership.
Graham testified to God’s guidance and direction in his life, and was able to see the clear pathway that had been drawn for him, including plac...ing him in just the right place when facing serious illness.
As Graham enters this new chapter in his life, we pray for God’s continued blessings, both for him and Inga.

Another great photograph of the band at Penketh Carnival

The band took part in this year’s Penketh Carnival, which this year had a World Friends theme.
A large, colourful parade made its way from Penketh High School to the recreation field in Greystone Road, where there were stalls and a fun fair.
The Warrington Guardian and Warrington worldwide photographers were on hand and took these pictures of the band on the parade.

The band will be taking part in the Penketh Carnival tomorrow, 13 July.
The parade sets off from Penketh High School at 11:30am, finishing at the recreation ground on Greystone Road.
Details of the event are in the link below if you are interested in attending

We were delighted to welcome Sheila Warr as an adherent of Warrington Salvation Army this morning.
The Bible reading on the screen was selected by Sheila as her testimony:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”... ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Elvis was in the building today at Warrington Salvation Army!
The Community Centre really pulled out all the stops to celebrate Independence Day with an American quiz and meal, followed by a fabulous concert featuring not one, but two Elvis’s (or is that Elvii?!)
Congratulations to all those involved in this awesome event, y’all!

The Knitted Bible Exhibition has now been installed in the beautiful setting of St Peter’s Church in Swettenham, where it will be until Sunday 7th July.
The band played a programme of music in the church grounds before a short, knitting-themed service.

Thanks to Elizabeth Silk for sharing this video of Walking Day

Fabulous sunny weather and huge crowds formed the backdrop for this years’ Walking Day - a historic event that dates back to the early 1880’s!
The newly restored Golden Gates were dedicated as part of a short service, before the march of witness through the town.
We were delighted to welcome a number of musicians from other Corps who helped bolster the band and ensured we provided a musical, as well as a physical witness.

The combined forces of The Salvation Army’s Unity Brass and the Weaver Valley WI Choir presented a Summer Promenade Concert last Saturday evening.
An almost capacity audience raised over £1,100 for Warrington Salvation Army’s community programme.
A fabulous evening of music making!

This Friday 28th June is Warrington Walking Day, and once again as a church we will be making our witness through the town centre.
We’re delighted to confirm that we will have a band this year, thanks in part to musicians from other Salvation Army Corps.
We would encourage all soldiers and friends to join with us on Friday. We aim to march away from the hall at around 9:30am, but due to road closures in the town centre, you should be at the hall no later than 9am if you are... driving in.
We normally get back to the hall for around 11:30am, where refreshments will be provided.
Further details about road closures can be found at https://www.warrington.gov.uk/…/warring ton-comes-together-f…

It’s Father’s Day this Sunday 16th June, so we’ll be serving bacon butties and croissants at the start of our ‘cafe style’ meeting at 10am
To reflect the more relaxed format of our worship, and to ensure that you don’t get tomato ketchup or brown sauce down your white shirt, uniform will be optional!
All welcome!
