About Watergate Bay Hotel

Set on a spectacular surfing beach on the north Cornwall coast, Watergate Bay Hotel is the perfect destination for a contemporary beach holiday.

Watergate Bay Hotel Description

Watergate Bay is a place that’s all about the balance of life; being active, getting amongst the elements, eating and drinking well, spoiling yourself a little, chilling out, getting cosy and most of all having a good time!

The beach is on our doorstep, so from the moment you arrive, the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged coastline are an ever-present reminder that you are somewhere where nature rules. But inside, every part of the hotel – from the bedrooms to Swim Club – has been created to bring you the best in contemporary Cornish comfort.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join the team at Watchful Mary, Watergate Bay. Opening in early summer 2019, Watchful Mary is a new continental-style bar for the Bay set on the sea wall.
Shaped by stories of co-founder Mary Ashworth’s sightings of the sunset’s rare Green Flash (a ray of green light that, if conditions are right, can apparently be glimpsed as the sun dips below the horizon), Watchful Mary is a bar for the whole Bay to enjoy. With unbroken views to the horizon, might just be lucky enough to glimpse the Green Flash from Watchful Mary. From views to flavours to vibe, there’ll be nowhere else in the Bay like it. Think laidback drinking and grazing, with the music stepping up as the sun goes down.

We stumbled upon this restaurant/hotel one evening whilst looking for dinner, I'm so glad we did, the food here is exceptional, I mean not just "oh that tastes nice". No, it goes beyond that, the chef's here have thought about every ingredient that went into our meals, and really put together some superb dishes, my wife and I had two different dishes off the specials menu and our two boys had different dishes off the children's menu, all were delicious, the service was fantastic and the view from the balcony dining area is incredible.

All this put together made for an evening my wife and I will remember for a long time.

We have just returned from an amazing 4 days at WGB, which is for my husband and I the 4th stay. It was a special birthday for me and our 3 son's and partners came with us. As usual the experience for us all was amazing! The setting, warm welcome, excellent service, delicious food in The Living Space - especially as 2 of our family are vegan, relaxing spa treatments, wonderful swims in the pool and perfect poached eggs for breakfast - made our stay and my birthday unforgettable. My husband and I will return and I suspect our son's and partners as well. Thank you

We couldn't of picked a better venue for our first wedding anniversary. Excellent service, amazing room with a great view. A relaxing and chilled atmosphere! Food in both the restaurant and the bar area were of a very high standard! We can't wait to come back!

User

We booked into the swim club for the day, on a spa package , while holidaying in cornwall, it included full use of the pool and and spa facilities inc the hot tub overlooking the beach, a 60 min spa treatment each and a 2 course lunch in the beach hut ... what can I say but AMAZING! We lov'd every minute of it, the treatment was wonderful, the food in the beach hut was absolutely gorgeous, it's my new fav place ! The staff were great , the pool, hot tub and sauna was gorgeous and the view was as delicious as the food in the beach hut ... wish we didn't live so far away can't wait to return ! :)

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Watergate Bay Hotel with our 6 month old daughter and our Labrador. So much to see and do in and around the hotel, especially the pool and children's crèche area. Staff are very welcoming and attentive. My brother is getting married their next year (20 Sep 18), so we will be definitely booking a room for a few nights for sure....👍

User

Lovely relaxing stay at Watergate Bay in early April 2018, really enjoyed the local cliff top and beach walks with our now worn out Lab, can recommend Zacey’s and nearby Fifteen restaurants....and a little further out Paul Ainsworth Number 6 in Padstow. Room was excellent and the hotel’s staff have been friendly and helpful. Thank you Watergate Bay....we will be back!

Lovely hotel. Friendly and kind staff, clean, lovely pool. Much better than other hotels in Cornwall that charge high prices and are pretty shabby in terms of food, surroundings and cleanliness. Didn't get a full intro to the hotel & where pool/larder were when we checked in but I didn't mind.

Just enjoyed Christmas at Watergate Bay. What can I say... everything was amazing! Starting with the staff, all friendly, and willing to help with anything, from carrying luggage to answering any questions. The laid- back atmosphere, the facilities, the food, the beach, bodyboarding, there was nothing we could fault!

Thank you for a fab 4 days.. we will most definitely return! Can’t wait!

Just back from a 2 night stay with friends, what can I say, we had the most amazing weekend. A beautiful hotel, stunning location but most of all such a relaxing break for us all. Every single member of staff were approachable and friendly, I can not recommend a stay at Watergate Bay enough, I’m already planning a return visit!!

User

It was with a little trepidation I took a 3 month old and a 5year old away on my own for the first time this week but I need not have worried. I felt like I had a relaxing time despite not having my husband with us to share the parenting due to how well set up the hotel is for families whilst simultaneously also feeling like your in a grown up environment.

The fantastic kids zone sessions (which my 5yr old absolutely adored) allowed me a few hours twice a day when I only had the baby with me- allowing me to soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the views or read my book.

The baby monitoring camera and iPad was also a perfect set up to enable me to use the pantry to clean/prepare feeds whilst being able to see the girls were safe in the room, if it wasn't that my youngest sleeps so well in the pram I would of also used it in the evenings.

The staff on reception were fantastic when I arrived after the 4hr car journey a little flustered due to events on the way. As for the journey home, well beach life is obviously exhausting as both girls slept the whole way.

Good food both in the hotel and at the beach hut (portions also very generous at both places), stunning views from the ocean room and living space, clean stylish bedroom (spacious with plenty of storage too), fantastic kids zone facilities and entertainment, excellent pool and friendly staff all combined with a fantastic beach for rock pooling and the cliff walks made it easy to enjoy quality family time making childhood memories.

User

I celebrated My 50th Birthday there this weekend and had a lovely time the hotel is Excellent and the hotel Staff were very helpful and Curtious my Girls enjoyed the Swimming Pool and the Kids club the food was very good and the choice of breakfast the only thing I didn't like were the button mushrooms they might have been from a tin can you do fresh mushrooms please the room was excellent and spotless I shall be saving up agin to visit next year

Had lunch at the Living Space with my family which includes a toddler, really impressed with how thoughtful the staff were - without us having to ask, our waiter brought a plastic cup with the water glasses for my nephew, and gave us some children’s cutlery with his meal it’s little things like that which make a big difference! Plus the food is always fantastic, especially the Portobello Mushroom Chips which are absolutely delicious I would also strongly recommend the non-alcoholic Rhubarb and Ginger Mojito!

Had a wonderful stay here last week with my husband and baby. The area is beautiful and the view from the hotel especially from the Living Space and the pool was amazing. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We mainly dined at the Living Space and the Beach Hut and had breakfast in Zacry's. The food was good and well presented. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic place to stay and to have food. The service is always 5 star and the staff are always friendly. The views are to die for. Love, love, love this place.

User

Adore this place. We try and visit annually and we’ve noticed the food is even better than last year! Great relaxed hotel, busy but lots of different spaces to relax in and escape others!

Dogs very welcome, water bowl offered on arrival and we felt relaxed too - not necessarily easy with a spaniel and a greyhound!

User

A fabulous friendly and extremely dog friendly place to stay. Great food in the restaurants and excellent service. Rooms are great, clean and very modern. What more can I say really except “I’m definitely coming back!”
