Why not visit the farm today and work up an appetite for one of our locally produced British sausages or burgers...or even try both!!

The sheep are enjoying some delicious hay this morning - I think they’re getting more of it on themselves than is going in their mouths!
Come and see us this weekend at our lambing open day. We are open from 10:30-16:00 with lots of activities for all the family including live lambing, sheep shearing, tractor and trailer rides, wool spinning, pony rides, a bouncy castle and much more!

The pigs are growing very quickly.
Pigs are very intelligent animals. They have an excellent smell, they love to dig and wallow in the mud they have made, as it is their only way to cool down - they have very few sweat glands!
They are very clean - they always designate one area for a ‘toilet’ and one end for laying down and eating.
... They can often be found napping in their pen, even in the middle of the day! Come and see them this weekend, we are open 10:30-16:00.
If you have any other questions about the pigs, comment them below!!🐷🐷🐷

Here you can see this ewe licking her newborn lamb. This a natural behaviour, and helps the ewe to get to know the lamb and recognise its smell, for identification.
The lamb looks yellow because it is covered in amniotic fluid, this colour will fade after a few hours and as it’s mother licks it.
However, this doesn’t only help with bonding, it also helps to dry off the lamb, to stop it from remaining damp and getting cold, especially if the ewe has lambed outside.
... Nature is very clever!

Lamb update 🐑 We had another ewe who started lambing late this afternoon but she has now had her lamb. We had several people brave the wind and cold to watch and wait ( including a little boy who waited late with his grandma) The lively lamb was up and standing within minutes. Sorry to all those children who had waited for a while but didn’t manage to see it born. Hopefully next time! Here is a picture instead!
Happy Mother’s Day to you all.

Come along and support the tombola at all of our lambing open days, only £1 for 3 tickets!

Lamb update 🐑 If you saw the two sheep, one Suffolk ( black face ) one mule ( black and white face ) that were lambing at the end of the day, we can tell you they have both now had their lambs. The Suffolk didn’t lamb until around 6.30 but ewe and lamb are both well. However frustrating it is for us watching and waiting Sometimes giving them time is all they need.
We hope you all enjoyed the day. Don’t forget the clocks change tonight!

How cute is Leprechaun? He was born a week before St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀🍀🍀

Wonderful way to spend the afternoon. My little boy had a fantastic time, so much to do and very fair prices for food and drinks too so a bargain day out. Spent more time queuing than I would like but didn't detract from our experience. We got our xmas turkey from here too and it was delicious!

User

What a lovely farm took our daughter's here today there was so much for them to do with the animals. They even got to hold a baby lamb.the staff was lovely and told us about the animals also very good prices didn't feel I got ripped off Definitely will be back again.

User

What a fab little farm! We came over for the lambing event & my little girl loved every minute, especially when she got to cuddle a 3 day old lamb. We will definitely be back.

User

We had a fantastic day here yesterday. Highlight of our day was seeing a lamb born but enjoyed it all, my son has not stopped talking about the sheep being sheared or feeding the lamb.Thought it was all very reasonably priced, including the food. Will be back again next year, thank you to all involved

User

We go every year for a lamb and calf foof. Beautiful surroundings, proper working farm, great tractor ride, fab tea/coffee, bbq and cakes and adorable lambs, ewes, calves, pigs and chicks. Oh and the wonderful smell of fresh air....what more could you ask for. Children not required but great place to take them. Educate, rejuvenate and bask in the glorious countryside....and listen to all the wonderful sounds of nature

User

Today we went for a revisit. Chris & jess are so lovely And was brilliant with the children . I can't thank alice enough too for arranging for us to go back & letting Bailey get hands on with the animals.

Waterside is a beautiful farm with wonderful kind people who run it.

Every single animal is very well cared for, loved , and the farm is very clean and tidy. Although it's a hard working farm they still have the time to stop and talk to you as well as answerig any questions you have. I can't thankyou all enough for what you did today. Its a day we won't forget. You have made Bailey's year , let alone day. See you next year!

User

Such fun today on Easter Sunday! Was amazing to see the baby lambs and calfs! Was really hoping to see a lamb be born but they were all too shy I think haha! My 1 year old enjoyed the tractor ride and running around after the sheep dogs! Would defo recommend for a afternoon out BBQ was good too!

User

Myself, my partner and my 4 year old really enjoyed our visit today! Our little boy held a chick, had a cuddle with a lamb as well as bottle feeding a few lambs too, he was so proud of himself! Farm staff were friendly and offered lots of information about the animals BBQ was delicious, great value for money! Have recommended to friends and family and we will definitely be returning next year

User

I've had the best time today meeting your beautiful, well cared for animals. There is nothing like the feeling of holding a new born lamb, especially seeing them being born.

We are animal lovers and visit many farms etc, and this one is wonderful.

We'll be back and getting our Turkey from you again too!

User

I've been coming for years (I've lost count!) and I love it - my kids do too lol. My pet hate is farms that are actually play centres with a couple of animals around. This is a true farm and I love getting an insight into a working farm. Affordable, educational and friendly staff. I recommend it to everyone I know. :) my only wish is you opened midweek in the easter holidays too as I'm a childminder and would love to do a trip with the children.

User

I came here on Sunday - Lambing Sunday - and it was a fab day out - we were told about this by a relative who has children, we dont have any, but thought it was a nice day so why not meet them there.

The place was rammed with visitors (apparently they have not seen that many before) and it was an interesting day out, seeing lambs being born and seeing all the other animals they have to - its nice that it is an actual working farm, rather than pretending to be one.

We watched the two sheep shearers with great interest and they were quite nice guys.

We also partook in the very gorgeous bbq fayre which was so delicious, we had to go back for seconds.

All in all, a fab day out and very interesting.....

User

Had such a fab time on Saturday. We saw a poster and decided to visit not really sure what to expect.

So much to see and do, face painting, stalls, bouncy castle, pony rides, tractor rides and then all the sheep, pigs and cows.

The sheep shearing was great to see. We saw a lamb being born which was lovely.

The food was priced fair and will def be back.

Only downside was not being able to pay by card, we used cash on entry so couldn't purchase more whilst inside.

User

Fantastic day out. Saw three lambs being born, missed one because we went on tractor/trailer ride. Such friendly staff including the sheep shearer from Australia. Granddaughter gave them picture she had done for them of a lamb. Not only did we see the sheep, cattle, pigs and Baby chicks but wild pheasants and deer. Thank you all for opening up your farm each year. xx

User

Brilliant day out with so much to see and do! Great food, so many adorable lambs as well as many other animals. So lovely to be able to get so up close to all of the animals, especially for a cuddle with the lambs (the puppies were an added bonus). All of the staff were so friendly and ready to answer any questions we had. A real well kept working family farm, which is so lovely to see! We can’t wait to visit again soon

User

Another year and another lovely visit to watergate farm. It's always so organised and there are lots of staff/workers around to answer questions. The children get to cuddle lambs and feed some of them. The animals always look healthy and well cared for. The food is always great. Everything you could ask for!

User

An excellent day. Both educational and fun. Also with one eye on getting our own sheep we made best use of the knowledge and experience of the staff there, who were more than happy to help.

User

Amazing day out, I took a reluctant husband, 5 and 7 year olds and they all really enjoyed it too. Saw 3 lambs born, kids held a chick and a lamb. Husband loved the bbq! 7 year old said "mummy why have I said the last 3 years you wanted to come and we didn't, that I didn't want to, it's really good. " We'll defo be visiting again, excellent to see a real farm. Thanks for opening up to the public.

User

What a treasure of a place for the children to see lambs, chicks, cows and pigs. The staff who were dealing with the lambs were great with the children, happy to answer questions and explain things to them. We saw lots of lambs, held one and fed them and also held a chick.

There was a Bouncy castle, food, face painting and picnic area. Reasonable entry fee, the tractor ride was fairly priced and the children enjoyed it.

My only negative comment is with the pony rides. £2 for no more than 60 yards and about 1 minute of riding time, with the most miserable, non engaging lady who clearly had no interest in being there or making it enjoyable for the children. Such a shame we chose that to finish our time there as it really put a dampener on it - my 6 year old even said how rude she was!

Would definitely go again but would avoid the pony rides.

User

It was really good experience for the children, put together very well. Lovely to get that close to the lambs and ewes..nice why to start Easter weekend.
