Waters Edge Woods End Bramerton Description

About the Waters Edge
The Woods End pub is where it all began. What were once Victorian tea rooms is now an elegant, modern dining experience.

The Water’s Edge has a great little story to tell, much like the people behind it and the historical Woods End location. We thought that if we share the rich history behind our place, our customers can enjoy a greater appreciation of the dining experience overall. Let’s dive in…

Water's Edge Bar & Restaurant, Our bar /restaurant is situated in the hamlet of the Woods End, which is a historical area that has an entirely unique story of its own to tell before becoming the Water’s Edge. The inn itself has been in existence prior to 1700 and was a popular haunt in Victorian times offering tea rooms and pleasant gardens. Today we can still offer you the pleasant scenery, but would probably direct you towards our extensive international Wine List, rather than just a cup of tea.

Currently the Water’s Edge bar and restaurant is a thriving social hub for locals and Norfolk Broads adventurers alike, charming everyone with its stunning views, modern menu and dedicated staff. And with Lee the owner in attendance, the future of our internationally inspired gastro bar /restaurant is looking very promising indeed. Our light, airy and modern establishment offers a proper taste of Norfolk, showcasing the ultimate transformation of a classic country English pub into a modern bar /restaurant serving freshly catered cuisine with a truly personal service. We’ve come a long way since serving scones in the 1700s!

Billy Blue Light

But, before we even arrived to renovate the pub, there was a local standing at the water’s edge with something to say…

It was Billy Blue Light!

This is the humble male figure you will surely spot when visiting us at the Water’s Edge, a life-size statue of the local character who is most remembered for challenging boats to a race along the banks of the River Wensum & Yare. The most amazing thing about Billy is that he’s been “45 years old” for some time now. Be sure to take a cheeky photo when you visit, with Billy starring in it!

Our establishment is overlooking a tight corner of the River Yare, which has been a popular spot for water-skiers since the eighties. In light of this sport, we have now installed new decking areas where you can watch any water skiers, wildlife and all the other happy holidaymakers enjoying the beautiful Norfolk Broads.

More recently, the greatest attraction of the Water’s Edge Woods End pub is the mysterious ‘Blue Swans’ that have been sighted after dusk. So if you are joining us for the evening, be sure to bring your camera, just in case!

Moored at the Common and walked up early on Friday without booking. It wasn't too busy so was given a nice table inside. Menu was limited but we were happy with our choices. My BBQ ribs were very tasty and my husband enjoyed his burger. We had expected fine dining but this was very acceptable. I understand they are lacking a chef. Got a bit noisy later at the bar but we had nearly finished.

Would return if they stick to a good solid well cooked pub menu as the waiting staff were all excellent. Hope they don't revert to "fancy"!

User

Lovely restaurant by the river at Bramerton. Delicious food, and not badly priced either, as it's all very fresh and of high quality. Only reason they lost a star is the price of the soft drinks....for those not drinking alcohol it is extortionately priced.

User

Great setting, with outdoor seating overlooking the river. Good selection of gins, though mighty pricey. Simple but very tasty and well cooked food. Will return.

User

A perfect setting and close to the city. Very modern now after a few years of being let down badly. Great for a sunny afternoon.

User

To sell out of all food for outside by 4.30 on a Sunday of bank holiday weekend that was forecast to be hot, seems pretty poor planning. Dogs not allowed inside and to not then allow indoor food to be ordered for outside, also inflexible.

User

Me and my boyfriend come here every year for our anniversary meal as it’s our special place and a lovely food for a great place to treat ourselves. However today we were really disappointed. We had to chose from the bar grill menu which had a very limited option and offered stuff you could get from your local Mexican restaurant for double the price!! I ordered the BBQ ribs. They came out and the ribs had clearly been reheated with the Bbq sauce already on top. It was dry and just awful!! It was also spicy (not as advertised) so much so that I couldn’t even eat them. The waitress came out and told her about the ribs and she said. That’s a shame we can’t please everyone. Not to mention the horrendous noise coming from pissed customers.... I thought this was a fine dining restaurant but this has really gone down in my books. Certainly won’t be wasting my money here again!!

User

So we visited here last night for a special meal due to having two very young children and my husbands long working hours a lovely meal was in order .....so we arrive, have a drink, sit at our table and we are given 'menus' to look through (looking through the menus didn't take long I assure you!!) at no point were we informed that they only had 5 main options and two starter options (both fish options for starters!) when the waitress returned to take our order I asked if some pages were missing from our menus she said that's their menu for tonight due to lack of staff...which I do understand however when you have came to a restaurant looking for a 3 course meal to have literally no options of what meal you have and they are all priced quite high I was really upset as an evening we had been looking forward to. The meals also were okish, nothing fancy, after two mains a drink each and an equally average desert we had paid £70 for the pleasure of eating here!! We won't be returning and I will be contacting the manager.

I am surprised no one informed us of the situation earlier in the day as they take a contact number for such reasons don't they? Or even tell us when we first arrived, as half hour had passed before we had a chance to ask the waitress, by which point it was too late to go anywhere else.

I had planned a meal with friends birthday later this week which we have now cancelled and will be going else where.
