Howard Cunnell, author of 'The Sea On Fire' and 'Fathers & Sons' gave a tremendous reading and spoke in the most inspiring way last night about his incredible work. Howard's sterling prose will soon become familiar to many more readers when his new book 'Fathers & Sons' is serialised as Radio 4 Book of the Week in late March. A talk at Bath Litfest will follow in May. Signed copies of 'The Sea On Fire' are currently in stock.

The Hot Seat: this is out author events area on our first floor, where we put those important literary questions to the most exciting writers in Britain - in the last few months cult figures such as Christopher Priest, Mick Herron and Jessie Greengrass are just a few of the writers who have come up with fascinating answers...

Now I like our local Waterstones. I know it's a chain and we have some lovely independents in Bath which I also frequent but it does have an independent feel to it. The staff are very helpful and usually knowledgeable - particularly good re graphic novels and sci fi/fantasy stuff. I quite like the cafe - bit disturbed by the alarming number of mirrors, but that's my problem with body image - good cake and I like their coffee blend (mine's a double espresso if you're interested before noon only mind). All in all a good place to hang out and I like some of their deals as it encourages me to pick up a book I wouldn't normally as it's half price or free. Didn't realise how much I enjoyed writing about the countryside until I picked up Landmarks on a buy one get one half price deal. So I am very happy with Bath Waterstones. Spend too much time and too much money there!

Like a dreamland for booklovers like me :)

I love browsing book stores in my spare time and love the relaxed atmosphere at Waterstone's Bath. They have an amazing selection of books. I never feel rushed there and love that I could bring my dogs with me, while I shop.

User

I love Waterstones being surrounded by all those books always calms me down.

User

I just want to say a huge thankyou to the staff at Bath Waterstones for making our visit yesterday so comfortable. My daughter had a ticket for the Lucy Sutcliffe event in the evening & my Dad drove us up from Devon for the day so she could attend. We got to the store around 4.30 & sat in the coffee shop till 7.30 when the event finished. We were made to feel totally welcome while waiting for my daughter & they even kept a coffee machine on for us after the cafe closed & the lovely blonde lady whose name I'm afraid I didn't find out made us drinks. Many thanks for a wonderful service & a fantastic event, my daughter was thrilled to bits to be able to go.

User

Although it was incredibly busy yesterday due to the Bath Christmas market, all the staff at Waterstones were very helpful and friendly. The cafe was very calm and comfortable, with delicious food and snacks.

User

Staff are great in the bookshop and the cafe but not many vegetarian options on the sandwich menu!

User

Mainly go there for the cafe: they have papers and do a decent latte. Much better than the "embedded Costa" they used to have. A perfect way to spend the morning sitting by the window people watching.

User

Lovely little cafe, but choice of paninis all had red pesto in them which I hate. Not much of a selection in the sandwiches either, they all had hummus which I ended up choosing.
