To celebrate the release of Emma Carrolls' new book “Secrets of the Sun King”, we will be having an Egyptology inspired activity events on Saturday 4th August.
For our Secrets if the Sun King activity day we will be designing our own Pharaoh tombs, illustrating canopic jars, learning the hieroglyphic alphabet, creating maps to help navigate the ancient world, and designing our own sarcophagus.
Children of all ages are welcome to this event, which will run from 12:30-1:30pm. Please contact a bookseller for more information.

What a lovely afternoon we've had today spent with Matt Cain! Thank you to everyone that came in to celebrate the launch of Matt's fantastic new book The Madonna of Bolton! For those of you who weren't able to make it Matt has left some signed copies! :) Thank you also to Matt for choosing to come home to launch this book. If you can believe it, 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of David Walliams first novel: The Boy in the Dress! To celebrate this anniversary there will be a very special David Walliams activity day on Saturday 30th June from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. We will be creating arts and crafts inspired by the wacky world of Walliams, dressing up as his wonderful characters and playing Walliams inspired games. Because we had such fun at our last Father's Day Activity day, we've decided to squeeze one more in before the big day!
Children of all ages are welcome to come along and make their own unique fathers day card. We will have plenty of glitter, stickers, feathers and more in order to make sure your fathers day card is truly one of a kind.

On Saturday the 2nd June we will be showing all Dads, Fathers, Papas, Pops, Paws & Paters how much we love them by designing and creating our own Father's Days Cards. We will have glitter, feathers, stickers & more all at the ready for you to create your own unique card.
The event will run from 11:00 - 12:45 and children of all ages are welcome

Join us on Friday 1st June for our Dinosaur activity day! We will be having lots of prehistoric fun designing our own dinosaurs, discovering our dinosaur name, deducing some Jurassic puzzles and much more.

Always love coming here because the staff are wonderful. Particularly a young woman in the children's section who went out of her way to help me find what I was looking for :)

Love the shop, just a niggle about one of the staff, was upstairs in the book section said to a member of staff excuse me, the staff member said I'm serving a customer, then went downstairs. I m sure they could have pointed me in right direction while upstairs!! Anyway decided to go to wh Smith's!!!
