Nathan Carter has become Ireland's biggest country music star. He is heralded by many as reviving the country music genre and bringing it into the mainstream. He has sold out venues across the UK and Ireland, has landed his own primetime show, and is loved and respected by legions of fans across Ireland.
But how did a lad from Liverpool accomplish all this before the age of 27? In his revealing and inspirational autobiography, Nathan reminisces about his music filled childho...od, and growing up in Merseyside with his Liverpool-Irish family. From his first taste of showbiz at the tender age of four, to his success on the north of England club circuit and his subsequent relocation to Donegal, Nathan explores the twists of fate that took him to chart success and to become Ireland's adopted poster boy for country music.
Please note - we have a very limited amount of time with Nathan and we expect demand for tickets for this event to be high. Please get yours soon to avoid disappointment. Access to the signing queue to meet Nathan will only be available to ticket holders. Further details: 0151 709 9820

We are delighted to host the launch event for this fascinating book by lifelong LFC supporter Peter Hooton (lead singer of The Farm, and co-editor of The End fanzine)which looks at the legendary Anfield Boot Room - a 12' by 12' room that Shankly transformed in to a space where so many deals were made, tactical decisions taken, strategies analysed and rejected - a tradition then continued by many managers who followed.
No fan with an interest in the history of the club wants ...to miss this special night - hosted by author and sports journalist for The Independent Simon Hughes, who is in conversation with Peter Hooton and former LFC manager Roy Evans.
Picture this: Saturday afternoons at Anfield, orange match balls, passionate terraces, a sea of red and Liverpool FC rules the world. The Boot Room story starts in 1959 when Bill Shankly arrived and converted a 12 x 12 storage room into a meeting place for him and his coaches, a move that had momentous consequences, both for the Club and British football. Fans on the Kop will remember the heart-stopping extra time of the 1965 FA Cup Final, and the jubilation of winning the treble in 1984. But what was the common thread during Liverpool's glory years? It was the Boot Room. Lifelong Liverpool supporter and editor of legendary fanzine The End, Peter Hooton takes us back into that old storage room, where first Shankly, then in succession Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish drank tea, analysed, strategised, selected and deselected, and built the most successful British club in Europe in the 20th Century. Illustrated throughout with over 100 powerful never-before-seen images from the Mirror's forgotten archives, The Boot Room Boys captures the story, as it unfolded, of Liverpool's conquering heroes. We are delighted to welcome John Niven to Liverpool to celebrate the publication of his new novel Kill 'Em All, the long awaited sequel to Kill Your Friends.
It is 2017 – the time of Trump, Brexit and fake news. And time for the return of Steven Stelfox, exactly twenty years on from his Britpop heyday. Now forty-seven and rich beyond the dreams of avarice, Stelfox works only occasionally as a music industry ‘consultant’. A fixer. A problem solver. He’s had a call from his ol...d friend James Trellick, now president of Unigram, one of the largest record companies in America. Trellick has a huge headache on his hands in the shape of...
Lucius Du Pre. The biggest pop star on earth. Well, once the biggest pop star on earth. Now he’s a helpless junkie and a prolific, unrepentant sexual predator. Through a programme of debt restructuring so complex even Trellick can barely understand it, Du Pre is massively in hock to the record company. The only way he can possibly pay it off is to embark on a worldwide comeback tour he’s in no shape to do. The picture is further complicated when the parents of one of Du Pre’s ‘special friends’ begin blackmailing him. If their video gets out, Du Pre’s brand will be utterly toxic and will take Unigram down with it.
Enter Stelfox stage right. Only he has the lack of morality to spin this one. With stealth and cunning he begins to chart a road out of the nightmare and to make a killing in the process. For this age of ‘American carnage’ – of populism, of the lowest common denominator, of the Big Lie – is truly Stelfox’s time to shine. But in this time of uncertainty, nothing is a given.

We are thrilled to welcome Kate Atkinson to Liverpool to celebrate the publication of her new novel, Transcription.
One of our finest novelists, Kate won the Whitbread Book of the Year Prize for her debut, Behind the Scenes at the Museum. Her four bestselling novels featuring Jackson Brodie became the BBC television series Case Histories. Her most recent novels, Life After Life and A God In Ruins, both won the Costa Novel Award and were critically acclaimed on both sides of t...he Atlantic.
In 1940, eighteen-year old Juliet Armstrong is reluctantly recruited into the world of espionage. Sent to an obscure department of MI5 tasked with monitoring the comings and goings of British Fascist sympathizers, she discovers the work to be by turns both tedious and terrifying. But after the war has ended, she presumes the events of those years have been relegated to the past for ever. Ten years later, now a producer at the BBC, Juliet is unexpectedly confronted by figures from her past. A different war is being fought now, on a different battleground, but Juliet finds herself once more under threat. A bill of reckoning is due, and she finally begins to realize that there is no action without consequence.
Transcription is a work of rare depth and texture, a bravura modern novel of extraordinary power, wit and empathy. It is a triumphant work of fiction from one of this country's most exceptional writers. Don't miss the chance to hear Kate discuss this, and her other work, with Liverpool novelist Caroline Smailes. He had a severed femoral artery, nerve damage to his hands and feet as well as deep gaping wounds in both of his cheeks. He had bee...n blown up during a routine foot patrol in Afghanistan. Waterstones Liverpool are excited beyond words to welcome acclaimed actor, comedian and writer Michael Palin who will be talking about his latest book Erebus: the Story of a Ship.
In this major new work, Michael Palin - former Monty Python stalwart and much-loved television globe-trotter - brings to life the world and voyages of HMS Erebus, from its construction in the naval dockyards of Pembroke, to the part it played in Ross's Antarctic expedition of 1839-43, to its abando...nment during Franklin's ill-fated Arctic expedition, and to its final rediscovery on the seabed in Queen Maud Gulf in 2014.
Illustrated with maps, paintings and engravings, this is a wonderfully evocative and epic account, written by a master explorer and storyteller.
To avoid disappointment, we would advise getting your tickets early for this event as we expect demand to be high.

We always take a trip into Waterstones whenever we visit Liverpool One. Today's visit was great! My daughter and I were served by a very friendly chap and recommended a Nora Ephron book on the counter after over-hearing our conversation about how much I loved her films - I bought the book! Another young man checked an author's name for us and offered to come and help us find the book we were looking for; we declined, but he took the time to seek us out to tell us that, after having checked the system, they had just sold the last copy earlier in the day. We also visited the coffee shop and were served by an exceedingly cheerful and polite member of staff. A really positive visit, as always. Thank you.
