We’re very pleased to announce that we have started to import a little wine of our own and are now working with three growers in the Ardèche region of the Rhône; Le Mazel & La Vrille et le Papillon who are both based around the village of Valvignères and l’Alezan who are situated further north, around Tournon sur Rhône. Each have their own distinct style and expression, but are unified by their respectful way of working the land and turning their grapes into wine. We had the ...pleasure of meeting these growers, seeing their vineyards and cellars and opening a good few bottles with them on our recent visits to France. We are very excited to have now finally received the wine here in Leeds and we can’t wait to show it to you. We’ll be pouring these bottles for the very first time on Friday night at our tasting alongside Modal Wines at Eat Your Greens. The wines will then be available in the shop from the weekend onwards. We’ll also be hosting a dedicated tasting focussing on all three growers at the shop on the evening of Friday 21st June. We’ll be sharing a more detailed profile on each grower between now and then, so stay tuned. We’ll also be taking these wines out on the road in the coming weeks, so if you work in the trade and would like to set up a tasting then please let us know. We’ve had a bit of blast of our web shop today and listed lots of new wines which are all now available to be shipped directly into to your hands, providing your hands are to be found somewhere in the UK

For our next tasting event we’re very happy to be teaming up with Nic of @modalwines and the guys down at @eatyourgreensleeds for a night of wine, food, music and the ‘good times’ that inevitably ensue as a result this tried-and-tested combination. We’ll have a ten wine line-up between us, with Nic & Steve on the pour and chat whilst simultaneously throwing down records on the EYG solo turntable. All the wine in the tasting will then be available by the glass & bottle over the bar once you’ve found your favourites. We’ll be there from 5pm until late, drop in any time. Hope you can make it!

Our next tasting night sees us getting out of the shop and into town to show some wines down at Eat Your Greens alongside our good friend Nic of Modal Wines! Mixing pleasure with pleasure, we'll be pouring a selection of good stuff at the tasting table for you to try whilst simultaneously throwing down records on the single turntable. Everything will then be available by the glass or bottle over the bar once you've worked your way through and decided on your favourites... throw in some snacks from Jim in the EYG kitchen, a bit of sun and that's your Friday night sorted. Don’t worry, we just scattered them on the floor to get you excited; they are now safely gracing the shelves of the shop and are boxed and stacked neatly, ready to go out via our online shop too (link in profile), should you live farther afield
Should you be unfamiliar, Emma is a wine that over the years has built up a devoted following since it first appeared on the list at @the_reliance some years ba...ck. It’s a highly aromatic blend of Moscato Giallo and Bianco from the Veneto, Italy, that spontaneously ferments in concrete tanks in contact with the skins for 10 days, then a bit of time in old barrels before bottling. We can report that 2018 is tasting superb - it’s all quince, orange blossom, tinned peaches and honey. We managed to acquire a little more this year, but don’t delay - Emma never hangs around for long

We’ve got four rare new releases from the Burgundian bon viveur Frederic Cossard in stock at the moment, most of which sold out at source in the blink of an eye. The Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and ‘Feel Good’ Savagnin are Freddie’s VDF experiments with grapes bought from the Jura and the Les Bressandes is classical Beaune Chardonnay from his own vineyards in Saint-Romain. A new La Salada drop from Toni Carbó open by the glass today. Roig Boig is a field blend pet nat for the thirsty that mixes local red grapes like Sumoll and Roigenc with white grapes Parellada, Xarel-lo (and more) to confectionary fruit perfection. Big on the tangy, Haribo-fruit tip, as the discerning hand model in the photograph adroitly pointed out. First glimpse of sunlight and this is ya boy

Over the Easter weekend we had the pleasure of visiting Antonella and Massimo of @partidacreus in Bonastre, Tarragona, an hour or so south of Barcelona. The couple are originally from Italy, but fell in love with the area, the ancient indigenous grapes like Garrut and Vinyater and decided to set up production by taking on old abandoned plots of vines to preserve the tradition of winemaking that works with these forgotten varietals. By their own admission they have now lost tr...ack of exactly how many hectares this patchwork of parcels spread all over Tarragona amounts to, and the sheer range of different cuvees they produce each year is dizzying - a testament to the energy and passion that goes into the work. All the vineyard sites are managed with plant based treatments and the wines spontaneously fermented with native yeasts and no additions. Massimo has a particular penchant for wines bottle-fermented pet nat style, and the bigger the bottle the better. Each bottle is disgorged manually by the man himself. The cellar is also full of beautiful old chestnut barrels - a nod to the traditional Spanish maturation vessels, before oak was introduced to cater to international tastes. You can always find a selection of Partida Creus wines in the shop, and we’ll be adding a few more after this trip. Moltes graciès Antonella y Massimo! And of course, @carlolupori
