such a lovely little hidden gem of London - especially Chris, he made our night even better!

User

What a superbly quirky bar with great service. I would highly recommend it.

User

We had a really great night. We loved the place, really cool idea. We enjoyed the charcuterie and cheeses, particularly the cheese with truffle! The staff were very attentive. Great atmosphere, will certainly go back when we're in the area again.

User

WC. A really nice bar. 'Buzz' atmosphere heightened by friendly, welcoming staff. Great location, literally on top of Clapham Common tube station (northern Line). Well worth a visit......or two.

User

The coolest of cool of Clapham...a must visit to do the cocktail list whilst chatting and nibbling on a plate of meat & cheese

User

Great selection of wines in a cute and romantic setting Try the baked camembert it's amazing

User

Great atmosphere in an unlikely spot... good service, cool that they have live music however we had to leave before they started.

Good food even though limited.

This is one of those places that is a go to, that while you want to tell everyone how fab it is you almost don't because it's such a jewel!

My advice tell your friends they cannot go without you!

Cheers!

User

Fabulous little place! So interesting and eclectic. A very warm welcome, great hospitality with a well chosen selection of wine and tasty charcuterie and cheese platters. Highly recommended!

User

Cute and romantic place with excellent wine and service. The only criticism is they turn up the music too loud and you land up having to shout at your company.

User

Can't find you guys on tripadvisor, but wanted to leave feedback somewhere. Went here last night and was really impressed. Ambience & location is great. Special thanks to the hostess that was working yesterday. Super friendly and helpful in getting a table for my friends and I. Best WC anyone will ever visit ;)

User

Nice place but not so friendly manager or owner. Not sure who was at the door.

User

Nice atmosphere. The staff know their wine. However the choice of background music doesn't really suit the place - dance music in a nice little wine bar?!

User

Delicious cheese plate, wonderful service, lovely people! Good choice of wines, though a tad expensive for the place: nice and cosy but quite hot and we had a rather stubborn unstable table.

User

Cool place and i really like it but it was totally spoiled ponsy staff all over the place topping up your glass of wine or water and generally ruining an otherwise great venue just because they want a service charge. It's a wine bar not a resturant and it's the U.K. not USA.

User

Cosy and cool place worth a visit. Not sure what happened on the last visit, when ordering a glass of wine though, what ever I was given was not drinkable, and not the best reaction from our waitress when I pointed it out. Sorry was said when I was given what I ordered after.

I would still return again saying all this.

User

Cool venue, a bit on the loud side and quite cramped. Nice cold cuts and decent beer and wine.

User

Yet another restaurant that doesn't take bookings but run a waiting list for people who turn up early and then bugger of for a drink for an hour!! Is it that hard to take reservations??

User

WC was a waste of my time and money.

- Paid £8 for a dry tartiflette the size of a coffee cup (flat white, not latte). No cheese, barely any cream inside and the chef didn’t use lardons as supposed to.

- The ‘supreme’ platter contained 4 slices of only 3 variety of charcuterie and 3 tiny pieces of cheese thinner than my iPhone. For that price we could have purchased an absolute feast from waitrose next door.

- Complained to the waiter and wasn’t offered a discount - just a basket of bread. If I wanted to eat bread I would have stayed at home.

Anyways, we went for dinner somewhere else after this because we were all still too hungry. Just a shame that some people will go there and spend the money they work hard to earn for some fake french cuisine that doesn’t apply to the standards of taste and size of France just because it looks trendy.

This rating is based on the service that we received on and after WC's Valentines' Day 2018 special. We booked in for the night and paid a £25 deposit. Our decision to go to WC was based on the Instagram post which stated "For £25 you'll be able to enjoy..a complimentary glass of fizz, as well as an assortment of European delicacies and fresh figs" - have a look, it's still up there.

After being seated on the night, we waited 15 minutes without any kind of service, then followed up on our complimentary goods. We received our 2 small figs and glasses of champagne, and when asking the manager 'is this it??' (no sign of the advertised "european delicacies") we were told by 3 staff members (including manager) that the figs and champagne were complimentary, with the £25 being a refundable deposit to secure our table for the night. So we said no more about it.

The service during the night was really terrible. We had to actively search out waitstaff for every request, and waited a minimum of 45 minutes before getting any food that we ordered. At the end of the evening we paid the bill and left, later realising that the £25 deposit hadn't been refunded to us, but instead offset the 2 figs and 2 glasses of champagne that had been added on to our bill to the value of £25.

After 2 emails to their email address with no response, I eventually called and spoke to the manager yesterday (27/2) who said explicitly that they would refund the £25.

This evening (28/2) I went in to WC and spoke to a different manager, who refused to refund the money as apparently it wasn't a refundable deposit, but the cost of the champagne and figs. I showed him the Instagram advertisement that was the basis for my booking, only to be told that the booking confirmation email that I received after paying my deposit said we would only receive champagne and figs, and that it wasn't his fault that the Instagram wording was misleading. After arguing on this further, he made it clear that the £25 wasn't being refunded.

So here I am, feeling the need to write this review. Yes it was only £25 - but this is a complete rip off based on what we received for our money - throw in the elusive "European delicacies" and it might have been worth it.

Yes, I probably would have let it go if the situation was handled with more respect, or if I wasn't told four times that I would receive a £25 refund, but unfortunately based on the terrible customer service that I received this evening in trying to resolve this issue, I won't be returning and will encourage others to go elsewhere.

Shame as I bloody love charcuterie!
