Welland Park Academy competed this evening at the RSC Top of the Bench Chemistry competition at loughborough University. All the top schools in Leicestershire were present and the questions were challenging. Results are revealed on Friday where we will learn if we have won through to the regional finals! Well done to James Vickers, Emma Vickers, Chris Walls and Izzie Norwood.

The year 8 girls played in the netball semi-finals last night against Ratcliffe College, unfortunately we lost 16-10, but the girls played fantastic! Year 11 boys won the basketball match on Monday 56-0 against Thomas Estley. The team played extremely well, showing some excellent defence. Well done to those that played. Fantastic result this evening for the KS4 boys and girls at the swimming gala. Area champions 🏆 onto the county finals at Uppingham. Well done to all those that swam.

In the cold and pouring rain yesterday, the Year 8 boys football team performed brilliantly and win 6-0 against Tudor Grange. Next stop - the Quarter Finals!! Well done boys

Fantastic Winter Concert this evening. Students from all five year groups showcased a variety of musical and vocal performances. An excellent evening.

Fantastic performance by our U15 rugby team today against Kettering Buccleuch Academy in the 3rd round of the U15 National Schools Vase. They came out 52-0 winners. Well done to all the squad. @SchoolsCup

Lots of fixtures have been happening so far this week. Year 8 and year 10 boys won the basketball against Lutterworth College and the year 7 and 8 girls won all three netball matches at Lutterworth High. Thank you both for hosting!

Sports results for today: Boys Basketball Results from yesterday. Yr 8 won 32-20 against Lutterworth College and Yr 10s won their first game of the season 33-21 against the same opposition. Well done to all involved. A great afternoon of rugby today over at Oakham School. Our Yr 7s and 8s took on Oakham School and Oundle School in a triangular fixture. Year 7 Rugby team came up second best against a strong Oakham team but then out scored Oundle School 3-2 in tries in the second game. Lots learnt and a great attitude from all the boys. Well done to our Yr 8 team who scored 3 tries and conceded 2 in their first game against Oundle School. They followed this with a really close game against Oakham and scored 3 but conceded 4. A tremendous effort by all involved.

Y8/9 girls futsal team came second in a futsal tournament at Brockington, narrowly missing out on the county finals. The girls played brilliantly. Well done to all!

We are delighted to have had Kim Carr from Worth-It in school today to train our Well Being House Mentors. This training will ensure that we are able to put a sustainable Well Being program in place whereby students are able to support others within the House System. Kim has been delighted with the attitude and engagement shown by all the students. They have shown great maturity and empathy for others which suggests that this will develop into a successful initiative that will blossom and grow over time

Welland Park Academy has the most amazing team of highly professional but extremely caring lovely people. My daughter in year 8 has recently undergone major surgery and typically these patients have 6-8 weeks off school, however we had such confidence in the WPA staff that she returned to school on a part time phased return after only 2 weeks. She has danced in Disco Inferno just the same as the rest - you would never know she'd just had such a major operation. Her incredible and phenomenal convalescence is attributed to the most amazing team Miss McBrearty has. I am of course very proud of my daughter but equally so so grateful for everything that WPA have done for her. Thank you Team WPA so much XX

We attend the club dance in the. Main hall on Thursday night's from 7.15.too 9.15 such a lovely place to relax

The best school ever :-)

User

Some questionable, and incoherent, reviews from others on here it seems. My experience is positive. My son is in year 10 and does well at Welland Park Academy. I am looking forward to my second son joining in September. As with any school, it's easier to work with them rather than against them! I would recommend this school to anyone in the area.

User

One of the best secondary schools in the area!

User

My daughter recently started at Welland Park Academy and the staff are all very helpful, understanding and lovely. After her first day (and not knowing anyone at all) she came home and was so happy! She said all the students were really nice to her and some came up to her and asked how her day was going. I couldn't ask for a more welcoming school... Thank you!

User

I can say without any doubt that WPA is THE best school our children have attended (and they have attended a fair few!!). The commitment that the staff have to each and every student is evident to see every time you enter the school. Their understanding of their educational needs and support through what can be 'trying teenage years' is amazing and I can honestly say our children enjoy every day they are at WPA. I would thoroughly recommend WPA to anyone considering the school for their child. Thank you to all staff. x

User

I attended this school between approx. 1974 and 1978 before moving onto Robert Smythe until 1983, we are looking for likewise school friends. We are talking about having a 50th Birthday reunion next year and would love to hear from anyone born 65/66/67 who would like to join the fun xx

User

Very bad bullying issues......Attitudes of some members of staff is totally shocking.
