I had the worst experience of my entire life in the Ewedale psychiatric assessment 'holding' room. I was met with a disdainful reception by a female nurse who was stern unfriendly and callous, I was lead into the most austere room imaginable, with no curtains, over head strip lights, cold lino floor, no heating, it was freezing, basically I was locked in that room for 4 hours alone, after my boyfriend and I were told that he 'wasnt allowed' on the 'ward' for 'insurance purposes'. The so called nurses at this unit are Evil and ignorant, were talking Winterborne view evil. The reason I use the word evil is because that's what it is. I was left in the locked room alone trying to alert a nurse or doctor or another human being for 4 hellish hours, Lee my boyfriend and carer of 12 years was locked outside the room and outside the locked front doors of the unit in the rain the only human contact I had with him was through an unopenable mesh window. I want the names of the people that did this to me. My advice avoid this place, its very very evil.

I went to A & E tonight with chest pain the staff were amazing, I was seen within a few mins and the doctor was the best he had a wonderful bedside manner as did all the lovely nurses. Thank you so much for looking after me x

Rang 111 they told me to go to A&E, I told them I don't want to, they sought further advice and I was told again to go to A&E. So I went and had to take my son. There is a children's waiting room yet my son was not invited into it as he wasn't the one waiting to be seen. Instead he ran around the waiting room whilst other children got invited to the toy area (which is behind a locked door). After seeing the triage nurse I was told, "oh I don't know what we can do, probably just give you advice" and off I was sent back to wait. After 1.5 hours I asked at the desk how many people were before me, and was told i still had a 2-3 hour wait. Bearing in mind I told 111 that I didn't want to go in the first place but was told twice I must go, and then bearing in mind I was told I'd probably only get advice, why even keep me there? Or not just quickly get me out of the way as I was told they wouldn't be treating anything anyway.
I told the desk I wouldn't be able to wait that long and would most likely have to leave, a phone call was made to someone and I was told OK just go. If there was any tone or indication that they just didn't care it was that. Just didn't care at all.

FYI - I had swallowed a piece of glass and was triaged as a minor injury...

One of the friendliest hospitals I have been in polite nurses...and wait for it .....polite doctor's! There was an issue that was no one's fault to be honest and my surgery had to be rescheduled they were so polite and apologetic... I was seen quickly all in all a delightful experience

My personal and family experiences of care here are very good. The new hospital buildings are a big improvement albeit architecturally poor and a missed opportunity. The older more prominent buildings are tired and scruffy with poor grounds management. Pedestrian access is poor even dangerous.
