'It is our cross-party view between BITA and the FLTA that scheduled maintenance, repairs and statutory inspections should be considered essential ongoing activities for any users of such equipment.' CORONAVIRUS – BUSINESS CONTINUITY, REGULAR FORKLIFT SERVICING
We contacted everyone last week to confirm our ongoing plans to deal with the Coronavirus and our continued support of our valued customers.
Obviously, following the Prime Minister’s address to the nation on Monday night we have had to re-assess the measures taken.
... We have taken the decision with effect from Monday 30th March to cease regular planned servicing of both customer forklift trucks and our own hire fleet in an attempt to firstly cut down on none essential contact between our Service Engineers and your staff but also to ensure that we can respond quickly to breakdown situations and urgently required repair work to keep forklifts in a safe and operating condition and therefore minimise our customer’s forklift truck downtime. Naturally, we will revert back to a full preventative maintenance programme once we are free of the virus and normal working has resumed.
If you specifically want the forklifts on your site servicing please feel free to contact our Service Department and we will adhere to your request.
Going forward we have our teams of Service Engineers at your disposal so please contact our Service Department with any issues that you may experience.
We also have a large stock of short-term hire machines available should you need any additional support. Again, just contact our Hire Desks for immediate attention.

Amidst everything else that is going on right now, we are pleased to be celebrating today as Alan Smith, our Technical Manager, joined us as an engineer 30 years ago today.
When Alan join us - on 19th March 1990, as seen in the photo below sporting the very latest style! - “Dub be good to me“ by the Beats was number one in the charts… Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister…. and his beloved Liverpool FC last won the league that year.
We would like to take this opportunity to ...thank Alan for his loyalty and commitment to the company over the past thirty years. In this time Alan has become an integral and very valued member of the West Mercia Family.
