About West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service - making West Sussex a safer place to live, work and visit.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service Description

Welcome to the official West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) Facebook page.

This page has been created to keep you up to date with fire service news, events and campaigns and to share fire and road safety advice so we can help improve your safety and reduce the number of emergency incidents and their consequences.

WSFRS responds to a range of emergencies across the county including fires, road traffic collisions, flooding and animal rescues. Our firefighters also respond to emergencies outside of West Sussex, assisting in both national and international search and rescue operations.

WSFRS is governed and funded by West Sussex County Council.

On ChristmasEve we'd like to say thank you to all our staff ready to respond if needed this Christmas - A, B, C watch, day crewed stations, the Technical Rescue Unit, on-call firefighters, fleet support & on-duty officers.
Not forgetting our headset heroes at Sussex Control Centre & our neighbouring sevices at East Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey fire services.

It's so tempting to light some candles in the dark, cold evenings. Be careful with them and don't leave them unattended #Christmas #FireSafe

UPDATE: We continue to work at the scene of the fire in Wick. Electricity has been disconnected to around 40 properties in Colebrook Road to help us carry out our work safely. We are working with utility company partners to restore power asap and in the meantime apologise for the inconvenience.

User

Think driving under the influence won't hurt/harm anyone? Not only are you risking someone's life, a prison sentence, a driving ban and a financial fine, you're putting our emergency services under great strain http://ow.ly/fNwz30mSmjeSouth East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust #DriveSafeAtChristmas

User

Thank you so much to the crew that came out to our house last night following a fire with a bio ethanol burner. Luckily my brother managed to put it out before, but as a precaution I called the non emergency police line, who transferred my call and sent a crew over. I didn't catch any names apart from I think Julie?!?! Sorry!! But you were all fantastic and really professional and friendly. The attention to detail astounded me and I'm sure you had more pressing things to be dealing with, but thank you so much for coming over and ensuring all of the fire was out completely and giving my brother first aid and calling an ambulance. If it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't have slept and he definitely wouldn't have gone to a&e. Thank you so much!! You all do a fantastic job!!! What an earth would we do without people like you xx

User

Thank you so much to Bognor Regis fire station. We had a house fire this evening, and they were here so quickly. And the next watch even came round later to make sure we were ok

User

So much admiration. You're all so brave. Thankyou for what you do.

User

Just wanted to thank your Technical Rescue team for their help today, after my horse fell on a chalk track and couldn't get up. They were amazing and were so quick to attend, and couldn't have been more supportive. Luckily she managed on her own after nearly 40 mins so I didn't have to waste more of their time but I am so grateful for their attendance. Great job and you all deserve better from the government.

User

Just wanted to say thank you to the officer that stopped this morning and helped push my car off the road! I broke down in rush hour, middle lane of a bit roundabout in Bognor and on top of other things was a little upset. He didn't hesitate to stop and I was very grateful :)

User

Just want to say a huge thank you to all the chaps that attended the fire in Steyning today, incredibly professional and a credit to the service, despite many of them missing the football!

User

I would just like to say thank you West Sussex fire and rescue they have all been working hard in storm Emma but as you can tell no one seems to bother about thanking the above services and in my opinion and others as well we all say a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts from an emergency service volunteer colleague

User

I will never be able to thank you enough for saving my horse Grace from the river in Hassocks on Tuesday. What an amazing team. Grace is doing well, still a bit shocked and stiff but without you she probably wouldn't be here. Thank you a million times. Tiffany xxx

User

I just want to say thank you! You guys and girls are real life heroes!

User

A big thanks to all the guys on duty today at the Crawley Fire Station. We had got the date wrong for the open day but the crew still made time for us to have a look around and chat to us! Thank you Ben and Joe. My daughter and I really enjoyed it.

User

A big thank you to WSFR, the instructors and management at Horley training centre. What a proud day for me and my wife seeing our son Lee Smith pass out with the 11 other whole time recruits of 2016. A day we will both never forget. You all should be very proud of the product you have developed. I'm sure that other county fire services will be knocking at your door. Very well done, everyone !!!!
