Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists ( Wvam ) Description

Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists (WVAM) is a club affiliated to the Institute Of Advanced Motorists (IAM). It has charitable status, registered charity number 1050868, and is run entirely by volunteers dedicated to motorcycling.

Falling driving standards and ever more crowded roads make you as a motorcyclist even more vulnerable, only, by improving rider skills through education will accident rates reduce. The aim of the club is to improve road safety through the education of motorcycle riders. We do this by demonstrating how you can become a smoother, safer and more progressive rider, whilst at the same time making the experience fun and mixing in a great social calendar. Our aim is for you to pass your IAM advanced motorcycle test and the method we use is based on the Police system of motorcycle control.

To help you do this there is an extensive social calendar including social runs during the week, monthly sunday gatherings, and various mid month events.

How to join us
WVAM have Observed Sundays every first Sunday of the month at Ripley Village Hall.

Arrive between 09. 15 and 09. 30 and enjoy a very reasonably priced bacon sandwich and chat to one of our Observers. You can join on Sunday or you may prefer to take an assessment ride to get a feel of whether taking the IAM Test is for you. The ride will last about an hour with a short briefing beforehand, and also debriefs during the ride and again at the end. If you want to come and look at us before joining please feel free. Alternatively make a note in your diary to attend one of our monthly open evenings, which will give you an idea of what the club is all about, and what we get up to, also held at Ripley Village Hall at 20. 00 on the last Tuesday of every month except December, with plenty of tea and biscuits!

Either way come and see us. You'll find we are as much a cross section of Motorcyclists as you would find anywhere at any motorcycle meet, no one that I know smokes a pipe, none of them wear slippers (at least not in the hall! ) and you won't go away with a ticket for a small number plate either.
