Wheelers Oyster Bar

Rude, ignorant, racist chef ruined experience. Food is good. Unfortunately the chef decided it was a good idea to come out into the serving area and 'chat' with guests that didn't want to speak to him. He continued on a racist rant for about an hour loudly talking about his dislike of immigrants living in the UK and how London has no culture because of immigrants. Particularly fun whilst he spoke to immigrants about his worries about the loss of Aryan England.

We come to Whitstable from Central London every year, early October, for our last swim of the season...and ...a fabulous late lunch in this wonderful institution. For sure it is a remarkable fish restaurant but it caters for my strictly vegetarian husband beautifully.

The food is unquestionably good. Aside from that the experience was exceptionally lacklustre: poor timing and inattentive wait staff who were surly at times in response to reasonable begs for interest. Tables are tiny and are made to accommodate more than they should. It's the sort of authentic English dining that is accepted now: very experienced chefs producing great dishes and nothing else but frustration to deflate the overall experience.

We managed to get a cancellation here today. The food and service were excellent. The perfect way to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. We will be recommending Wheelers Oyster Bar to everyone.

Very small but wonderful place. Great crab cakes to take away and eating in is a pleasure in the diddy dining area. One of the UK's loveliest little places to eat.

Excellent! Lobster lasagna a must. Sea bass with scallop dumplings fantastic. Even the homemade desserts are delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Just had oysters to take away, but they were delicious! Have eaten here a few years ago, too, and really enjoyed it. Nice relaxed feel and fun to sit at the counter or in the small back room.

We somehow managed to eat in here in a gap they had in their many weeks waiting list. I had a great experience and would recommend it highly. The trio Of Oysters was unlike anything I've ever had. I didn't even know you could tempura an Oyster!
