As our Wish Week 2018 comes to an end we'd like to remind you all of our wonderful winter Lapland trip. Each December we fly the excited children off to Lapland for husky rides, fireworks, toasted marshmallows, and of course to meet Father Christmas and his Elves. This wouldn't be possible without the ongoing support of our fantastic fundraisers, volunteers and all of the wonderful people that help our charity - THANK YOU!

As we are celebrating everything about our wonderful charity for Wish Week, we'd like to introduce to you one of our fabulous fundraisers, Christine Foster-Nabi! Christine is a keen walker and has raised funds for us by completing the Hadrians Wall walk, Inns Way, The Jurassic Coast and many more. She didn't even stop her walking for us after having two new knees! Christine sent us this lovely messsage for Wish Week -
'My sister’s daughter was born with the condition microce...phaly, and sadly passed away aged just 2 and a half years old. This tragedy made me realise just what children and families go through, and how brave and resilient children are through pain and treatments. I love walking and love raising money for When You Wish Upon a Star. To know I'm raising funds for these brave children and their families is a great motivator, and makes my walks all the more rewarding'

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Wish Week Friday! 🎉🎉🎊 The wonderful YouTube gaming superstar Thegamingbeaver kindly helped us recently with granting Luca's Wish, which was to meet and play against him! Thegamingbeaver has over 2million subscribers, is a gamer and illustrator, and also a big dinosaur fan! Luca had a wonderful time not only playing against his gaming hero, but also visiting London attractions and dining at The Hard Rock Cafe. The National Citizen Service gives 15-17 year olds the chance to embark on exhilarating challenges, and build skills for work and life. They have organised some fantastic fundraising events for us over the years. 'This summer I had the pleasure to work with @LeicestershireEBC as a social action provider for @NCS. During this time I worked with 8 teams of 15-17 year old students who raised over £8,500.00 for us. 'It's Henry here. We have just got back from Florida and I wanted to let you ...know what an amazing time we all had. Me, my mummy, daddy and sister were all blown away by the lovely villa, the theme park tickets (especially the VIP access to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure) and the fantastic experience we had as a family. My favourite things were going on the Hulk rollercoaster in Universal (I made my dad go on twice and he nearly went a green as the Hulk) and seeing all the Star Wars shows and memorabilia at Disney Hollywood Studios and going to Legoland. My sister’s favourite things were Splash Mountain at Disneyland’s Magic Kingdom, Harry Potter at Universal and seeing all the animal shows at Seaworld and swimming in the pool at the villa. We did 15 rides in one day at Universal and we even saw Declan Donnelly filming the Saturday Night Takeaway Show. It was so amazing I nearly forgot I have Type 1 diabetes!!! Thank you so much to everyone at When you Wish Upon a Star who made this happen. We really did have the holiday of a lifetime'

As it’s Wish Week and we are celebrating everything about our wonderful charity, we are happy to share this wonderful message we’ve received from a previous Wish Child - Sophie May.
When I was in my early teens I suffered an asthma attack that caused me to be resuscitated and put into a coma, this happened again a couple months later. From then my life turned upside down, I was on daily steroids and other medication that caused negative side effects especially weight gain, th...is then affected my confidence and restricted how I cared for myself. My asthma was so bad I had to use a wheelchair and my teenage years were lost. When I found out I was meeting David Beckham I was over the moon it gave me something positive to look forward to and focus on. I was flown to Madrid with my mum and met David then also got to sit in his private box with Victoria Beckham and watch him play. We travelled with Barbara White too and getting to know her, the charity and the stories just gave me inspiration, I felt I was not alone and I can look to the future. Luckily a new injection became available to me and that helped me become slowly better. I still struggle occasionally now, however having the opportunity and memory of my wish gave me strength to fight and I got through college and university to qualify as a social worker. Now I am married and have a beautiful daughter. I would like to thank all that support with Wish upon a Star as helping children have moments and memories that help them forget about their troubles is truly magical xx

fantastic charity that strives to make dreams come true for special children and families that deserve some magic!

Yesterday was one of the highlights of my life. To be able to help these children realise one of their 'wishes' in such a beautiful and magical place such as Lapland was truly humbling. The children were so lovely and you could feel their appreciation for what we all were doing together. The helpers, the organisers, the parents, the children ... what a TEAM, what a day and what a memorable experience for everyone. MERRY XMAS to each and every one of you xxxx #WISHLAPLAND

What a fabulous place my grandson Harley enjoyed it so much he will be talking about it forever the whole trip was amazing from the night at the hotel to the flight back home it was truly amazing seeing all the children happy and laughing the magical forest and Santa's village was beautiful I would like to thank one and all at when you wish upon a star from the bottom of my heart for making us feel so happy xxx

We feel so honoured to have gone to Lapland on Sunday. It was out of this world! After the most difficult year of our lives it was the perfect treat to celebrate our 4 year old daughter Holly finishing her treatment on 16th November for Wilms Tumor - a type of kidney cancer. Can’t put into words how much it ment to us. Everyone involved was so lovely. Thank you to everyone at when you wish upon a star and all of your supporters. �����

Thank you on behalf of our grandson Jay and his fantastic mum Katie. She has looked after him on her own for nearly 7 years. Kids that need 24/7 care are emotionally draining and this was a very welcome magical experience for them both.
