Welcome to While You’re Away Your Pets will Play!
Whether it's a walk or a long board our aim is the same- to make your pet feel at comfortable (and have fun & cuddles- if they are those sort of pets).
My name is Kira and I run While You’re Away Your Pets will Play with my partner. The company has been running since 2013, though only recently have I managed to get my head around keeping up to date with a social media page.
We are fully insured for Dog Walking, Pet Home Boarding, Pet Sitting, Pet Taxi as well as Cat /Dog Groomer, Dog Hydrotherapist /Trainer, Mobile Cat /Dog Groomer, Pet Behaviourist, Microchipper, Minder (though we do not actually do these additional services). We have Public Liability Insurance of £1, 000, 000 and Professional Indemnity cover of £1, 000, 000. I also have a clear Basic Disclosure (CRB Checked).
I successfully completed a Professional Dog Training Course and finished with a Distinction.
So a little about me:
I have had an extended family of non-humans my whole life: from fish, stick insects and mice to dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and even a pony for a little while (my mum confiscated it off some boys carrying it through where we lived, she said they could have it back once they found a home for it, three months later… they came back). It appears the love of animals runs in our family.
I grew up moving around a lot. As a child, one of my memories is moving house (and country) with a bucket of fish between my feet and trying to keep still so the fish were disturbed as little as possible. I have seemed to carry that theme with me and have brought it to While You’re Away Your Pets will Play.
We tailor each and every walk /adventure /stay to your pets needs. So whether it’s a chihuahua who needs 7 walks and must eat food with someone in the same room, a dear old lab who likes nothing more than chilling in his comfy bed getting brushed or a pair of rabbits that need visiting twice a day to have a good run about the garden, this is what they will get. This is what I love! Each walk /stay /visit is exciting and I enjoy seeing your pets comfortable and happy.
There were two main reasons why I started While You’re Away Your Pets will Play. The first and main one was because I had such trouble finding someone who would board Legs when she was younger. There seemed to be such discrimination towards her and her breeding. It hurt my heart that they said they provided a service yet only wanted to look after easy small dogs regardless of her training or without meeting her.
At While You’re Away Your Pets will Play all creatures great and small will be welcomed and loved. Over the years we've regularly had animals of all shapes and sizes come and stay. We've changed address a few times. London being London, rents increase & areas change, nevertheless the love and fun in our home never changes. And that’s my second reason- I just love animals!
A little about us:
Our resident explorers include our beautiful Legs (a 5. 5year, neutered female, mastiff x staff), Naughty Nia (our 8 month old ferret), our daughter (born in Feb) and my partner & I. Languages spoken in household English, Spanish & Catalan. Which is especially handy when looking after animals who’s mummy and daddy have trained them in said languages.
Our days are spent playing, walking, exploring, cuddling and brushing. Near by, on our routes are many parks: Clapham Common, Battersea Park, York Gardens, Spencer Park, Wandsworth Common, Garratt Park & Wimbledon Common. We also like to venture a little further some days (like weekends) to Crystal Palace, Hampstead Heath, Beddington Park and even further to Brighton and Margate beaches.
I'm used to introduction /interaction training and we are confident and happy to board pets that require medication or special diet. Depending on the pets we have boarding with us, it's max adventure time or it's indoor play & cuddle days. Weather doesn't stop us! That's what's showers and towels are for. : )

What a find Kira was! I would thoroughly recommend to anyone - she's clearly passionate and knowledgeable about animals, totally respects and adhere's to the rules of your own house (nothing seems to be too much trouble!) and sent regular updates when we were away. Having had a few bad experiences of late I can honestly say that 'out of sight' was 'out of mind' for my gorgeous Bailey because I knew he was in such good hands. The fact that he didn't make a fuss at night at Kira's and also didn't sulk with me for a few days when we got back shows that he really had enjoyed himself too. Thanks so much Kira, will def be back! C x

My doggie Oliv was looked after by Kira for 18 days. Oliv loved living with Kira and thoroughly enjoyed her long advenrerous walks to different places every day. I was kept up to date with pictures and comments about Oliv on a regular basis. I would definitely recommend Kira ro look after your loved ones.
Kira was lovely with Salsa. She took her jogging, swimming... When Salsa was back I noticed her behaviour with other dogs was much better. She was also a tired and happy dog. Kira took her time to get to know Salsa, thought about all possible adaptation issues and helped her have a smooth process. Would 100% recommend Kira - she’s an animal lover and she’s so passionate about her job. Thanks Kira!!!!!!! (:
Kira was great! The dogs came home happy! She was easy to get in contact with and would send pictures and updates.
Kira was brilliant with Murphy and very professional. She picked up on is traits very quickly and really understood him as he can be quite nervous at times. I would highly recommend to anyone who needs either short or long term services.
Kira took great care of our Westie. She was super professional when introducing the services and we had total confidence on her to look after our dog. Definitely recommend her services.
Kira is just great! Takes really good care of our fur bubbas while we are away. Highly recommend her and will use again. 👌💯💯💯
Kira is friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Milo had lots of fun playing with the other dogs. Kira sent lots of photos and dropped Milo home so we could relax knowing he was well looked after. Kira is now our default go to.
I had to go away for a week and plans to look after my dog at home fell apart. I contacted 'While You're Away' and though it was short notice the lovely Kira came to meet him and introduce him to her resident dog. The reaction of both Kira and my dog (Loxy) to each other put my mind at rest. I left my lovely fur baby for 9 days, first time I ever left him with a stranger and not in his own home. I received updates with photo's while I was away. Kira delivered him home to me, healthy, happy and tired......... and he has developed better manners while in the car. Thank you Kira.
