About Whilton Marina Ltd

Whilton Marina Ltd (Official)

Whilton Marina Ltd Description

Whilton Marina lies at the heart of the canal network on the Main Line Grand Union canal. The Marina was dug out in 1971 by the Steele family who still own and operate the business with now the third generation playing an active role in the business operation.

The extensive marina is home to over 200 moorings and it operates the largest and most successful brokerage on the system, selling over 300 narrow boats per year. We always have a large selection of narrowboats for sale.

The friendly team are available seven days a week to offer guidance and support in all aspects of buying or selling a narrow boat.

Buyers can register their boating requirements and receive free updates of all narrowboats that meet their needs as soon as the boat goes on to brokerage.
When selling your narrow boat we offer free valuation any where on the network, and provide you with free mooring whilst the narrowboat is on sale at the Whilton Marina boatyard. Each boat we market has its own four page colour brochure and a unique page on our website detailing the boats specifications or special features.

Whilton Marina also has a sister company called Cosgrove Leisure Park and Venetian Marina in Nantwich, Cheshire. Cosgrove Park is one of England's finest leisure parks. Located on the picturesque South Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire border and set in 180 acres of beautiful parkland featuring twelve lakes and two rivers. www. cosgrovepark. co. uk.

Venetian Marina is the north-west's premier inland marina and has a workshop, tea rooms and gift shop. www. venetianmarina. co. uk

Whilton Marina actually delivered on their marketing slogan 'Realising your dream'. We are celebrating 6 months of owning our narrowboat, and are really happy with the boat and the service that we received from Whilton Marina. Across the team, they have looked after us, providing excellent service during our first boat purchase, and onwards. It is exciting that they are expanding their infrastructure, but it is the people who really make the difference. We have really appreciated Adrian, John, Fred and Peter in the Sales office AND Peter, Paul, Nigel, Matt, Sam and Chris, who deliver on the maintenance and servicing work. They really do great work, and the trust and confidence developed is every bit as important to us.

User

What a great place! We have just purchased a narrowboat and all the staff without exception were outstanding. If you're buying s narrowboat or wodebeam, make Whilton Marina your first post of call. Thanks guys - you were amazing

User

We recently collected the second boat we have purchased from Whilton.

The process of viewing was relaxed as we could compare differing layouts and styles without having someone breathing down our necks.

All the staff were great and helpful but we must highlight our star of the organisation - Jon. Jon was very helpful and supportive from the first steps through to the collection of the keys. Ask for Jon and you will be looked after extremely well.

User

We have just brought our first nb from whilton marina... They have been so good to us (due to being new to this) they have helped us every step of the way from stupid question and how to steer the nb for the first time... They all have gone above their job and more... even the chandlery are so good and even the cafe... everyone has made our first experience special and can't thank you all enough xx

User

We have bought a boat from Whilton marina and 11 years after sold them the same boat back. The first time we part exchanged our narrow boat for a bigger boat we dealt with Rob who was very helpful has was all the staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone if your thinking of buying or selling your boat. There was no pressure just good advice from start to finish.

User

We bought our first boat from Whilton Marina and would thoroughly recommend them. We found the initial pre-sales process a bit disengaged with no single point of contact and a need to start from scratch again each time we called and that made us a bit nervous about what would happen once we agreed the details of the purchase. Any concerns were completely unfounded. There were no quibbles over the survey results and work recommended. No over-reliance on it being exactly a BSS or Insurance requirement. They did an excellent job with the work, exactly to the time agreed. They showed us the work done and explained every part of the boat and its operation very carefully and patiently. Any query we had was answered immediately and fully. Even after we had moved the boat from Whilton to its permanent mooring when we contacted them about a minor issue it was addressed at once, without argument and very efficiently. We couldn't be more pleased with the after sales experience.

User

Thanks to all the staff at Whilton marina for a very easy well organised sales process when we bought our boat in August 2017.

I have no hesitation in recommending Whilton Marina if you are considering buying a boat!

User

Recently purchased boat from the team at whilton. It was a terrific experience, the whole team bent over backwards to make it as pleasant as possible. Would thoroughly recommend

User

Love The Place and The people ...Everyone friendly helpful ... if you Want to buy a boat .buy from these.. I recommend them ..top marks to you all...

User

Just brought my first ever boat from Whilton and want to say a massive thanks to john who has been amazing from start to finish would definitely recommend using them they are all friendly and willing to help.

User

Just bought our new (secondhand) narrowboat from Whilton, the sales team were great from start to finish, providing a very professional service. The survey showed a small amount of work needed to be done, and this was all done efficiently in a short timescale despite them being extremely busy. We were even allowed to stay in the marina for a couple of days after handover as the weather was awful! And to top it all, I won 4th prize in their photographic competition!

User

I purchased a boat in January this year named TUI had been looking for the right boat for me for a year made various visits to different marinas found Whilton the most helpfull and informative. The sales staff and the engineers very helpfully and went in my opinion more than the extra mile.Would recommend anytime currently cruising the peak district 5 months on

User

I bought a boat that needed a lot of work, Jon and all the staff helped all the way through the process, giving advice, opinions etc on safety certs, survey results, anything I asked really. (and I probably asked some pretty daft questions too). Thanks very much:)

User

Haven't been here since 2008, but from what I remember, very attentive staff, great cafe, and the best Jacket Potatoes me and my wife have EVER had - they were like creamy mashed potato injected into the potato skins...

User

From the first day we looked at the boats to this evening sitting on our new home. The service has been perfect. Thank you to Adrian's for all your kindness to us newbies

User

A great place to be and buy from.

They go out of their way to help and give advise, I would always advise people to come to Whilton, the Chandley shop is well price and has everything you could need and make sure you try and go back to the café, not forgetting the workshop boys and all their hard work.

I am so glad I brought from Whilton Marina, thank you so much, I don't think I can put into words how outstanding you have been.

User

I called here a few weeks ago...no idea what I was going into...but with a vague idea a narrow boat might just be the answer to my problems. The staff were fine...but it was the boats I looked at that let the place down. You get handed the keys...wow!! And you hope for this adventure that fits your dream...and get very sadly let down by all the detritus from other lives that remains on the boats.

Now I get that it costs money...but clear them out guys...box up what can be sold with the boat (crockery etc...cleaned of course) and shift the rest. It will sell your boats...you wouldn't put your house up for sale and expect it to sell if the folk viewing see a dirty tip? Please...clear out the boats...☺

User

Wouldn't recommend as we were ripped off with a boat we put a deposit on, survey came back rubbish and only got half our deposit back and that was after we fought for it!!

User

I wouldn't recommend buying from here. They sold me a boat that was unsafe to live on, and with appliances that were so dangerous it became illegal for me to use them. The wood surrounding the cooker and log burner was in danger of catching fire. Also, there was a gas leak, two very dangerous issues. Three members of staff ignored my concerns. Only once I had the boat safety officer look at the boat, and a legal standing did they finally listen to me. There were many more safety issues included in the boat safety officers report, too many to list here. If you do buy from them, get your own survey done. Do not trust them with the safety and the safety of others on your boat. Worst of all, the marina were aware of these safety issues. They had in their possession a survey from a previous possible buyer, listing all the faults named here.

Also, they made all the usual promises, that all systems on the boat would be checked. Once I handed the money over I found nothing at all had been checked. Batteries were flat, fridge not connected, oven not working, washing machine faulty, boiler leaking. Whenever buying a boat, expect to have to fix some things, but not this much, and definitely don't believe their promises that they will check the boat over. GET YOUR OWN SURVEY! Also, included in the sale was the blacking. They blacked my boat, but the job was awful, no preparation other than jet washing had taken place, and the paint could be peeled off easily just using my fingers. I ended up having to re do it all again. They will do enough to make it look ok, but bad blacking can result in costly repairs.

In my opinion I thing its best to walk away from here, and go and find someone selling there home. A boat that has been lived on and loved.

Happy boating folks, and good luck.
