When we arrived we were ready for going somewhere else with the amount of people waiting luckily we waited 5 minutes before being shown to a table, the service was excellent I think the lad was called Dan he was really good, I expected to have a long wait for food but no it arrived in good time and the food was excellent highly recommended

User

Went to eat there for the first time, polite and professional staff, greeted with a smile, shown to our table immediately, ordered food from a substantial menu, prompt service, food deliciously cooked, will certainly recommend and visit again.

The haddock is to die for .only problem is the vinegar!in Yorkshire you are only legally allowed to use non brewed condiment chip shop vinegar, not malt !! Yuck.

User

Love it...best fish and chips ever, and the cod salad O and the fish pie!!!. LOVELY staff the place is so nice inside. Only down side, can only get once a fortnight. I have never had a bad meal here, we love it and have been coming for a few years, we brought my aunty on Saturday who is over from Australia and she too thoroughly enjoyed it, service is always good, and our food has always been brilliant,

User

Food was beautiful from the take away as always but it was absolutely freezing queuing outside and once you got inside it was no better....

You need to close the doors on cold days, it was ridiculous!!!!

User

Coming to whitbys never fails to disappoint us, the food and service is amazing, it's a beautiful restaurant, clean and tastefully decorated, the staff are very friendly and efficient,

Will be back again soon

We have been very regular customers with Whitby and we had a 50th family meal there yesterday ( 16th June ) but I am so sorry to say was a little bit disappointed with the meal the fish was very greasy which in turn caused me to have quite bad stomach ache so it put a dampers on all the day really it's put me off going for a bit sorry

Just wondering if it's only this bad when they are really busy because this is the first time I have had a complaint it was if they hadn't allowed the fish to drain with the fat I think it came straight out of the fryer on to the plate

User

I have been numerous times and have always thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Today was an exception I'm afraid. Cannot fault the fish it was beautiful as usual. The chips were bloody awful. Some were hard, some burnt, many eyes in them and to be honest inedible. I politely asked for some fresh chips. The waitress brought fresh in a bowl, my other chips were still on my plate with my fish. I asked the waitress what to do with the offending chips. Reply.................just scrape them off onto a side plate! Considering there was an awful lot of chips 3 side plates and a large serviette were filled. They sat on the table until our meal was finished. To be fair the replacements were no better. Not good! As for the waitress, I'm afraid she needs training on customer service and a change of attitude.

I go here more through lack of choice than preferred option. It must be the only Fish and chips shop that has the trade mark... "We are just waiting for Fish" because everyone hears those words when they ask for Fish. You never hear McDonald's say we are waiting for burgers so it's down to bad organised system and all for a mediocre product which is beaten in every way by the guy on atterclife road. I hope that one day I will be surprised but alas, not today sadly.

User

Not the best today at 130pm old cold chips, cold fishcakes think you need to turn the warmer up and keep refreshing old for new, I normally love this place but was very dissapointed on this visit.

User

Horrible..really disappointed..way to greasy and felt quite sick a couple of hours after eating resulting in spending the best part of the night over the toilet!! Husband left the majority of his..will never eat there again!!

User

Well I have just had the worst fish and chips , sausage and fish cake ever, popped in to takeaway for the kids tea on way home from sports camp, food slightly warm , taste not good at all, very ransid . Now in the bin . Thinkthe food must have been sat since dinner time. Never again

Tried to book for my parents 61 st anniv . Been in the past and been ok ... but told they don't take bookings for less than 7 ???? Maybe consider asking a few more questions before implementing the policy ?? My parents are 81 and 85 ... my dad has altzheimers ...and it was for a special occasion... would have happily paid a deposit or even for meal in full. After telling them no problem I'll go somewhere else it occurred to me I should have said I'd make it 7 ! All ended well ... seven seas at wickersley were happy to take our booking ... great food , great service ... highly recommend it ... we will certainly be back .

User

Not great chips burnt and cold and like they were warm ups, curry sauce also a let down. Will be sticking to Kingfisher in crigglestone well worth the drive for proper West Yorkshire style fish and chips.

User

My husband queued for 15 mins today for the takeaway side only to be told when he got to the front of the queue that a large telephone order had been received and that no one would be served for at least 20 mins.

Not good enough on any kind of level. Priority should be given to those who had already been kept waiting, not those who simply phone in.

He was also going to place a large order for his workforce and was giving you notice, but he left disgusted and went elsewhere.

If this is how you treat your customers, I’m surprised you have any.

User

Amazed called yesterday to book a table for a 61st wedding anniversary and was told we can not take a booking for less than 7 guests never in my life heard of a restaurant not accepting a booking of a table of 4 then was told come and wait we will never come back we have visited many times i am glad i do not run my business like this

User

All the waiters and waitresses were stood about doing nothing and watching half the customers eat. The curry sauce tasted like powder. I’ve honestly had better fish & chips for half the price from my local chip shop. The prices are disgusting and I’ve honestly had better quality from the local chipshop. Definitely will not be returning
