The group exhibition ‘Memory Palace’ is on view across White Cube's London galleries at Bermondsey and Mason's Yard. The exhibition’s architecture – designed by vPPR – leads the viewer through six aspects of memory, with the fifth one being ‘Collective’.
Objects of play synonymous with childhood narratives, both collective and personal, have the power to unlock deep-seated memories and experiences. A model wooden plane kit, enlarged in scale and suspended in mid-air, returns the viewer to a state of guileless wonderment. ‘Planing’ (2018) by Damián Ortega extends his exploration into how forms are constructed through the channel of humorous enquiry.

The landmark exhibition ‘Remembering Tomorrow: Artworks and Archives’, is currently on display at White Cube Hong Kong, organised to mark the 25th anniversary of the gallery.
The show explores the theme of memory in relation to material culture, social history and the sublime, as well as time and myth, as can be seen in Raqib Shaw’s ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights XIV’ (2005), whose mythological creatures are inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s work of the same title.

Doris Salcedo is constructing a new work made out of surrendered weapons in her native Bogotá, Colombia. Entitled ‘Fragmentos’, the work consists of a grey floor built with melted rifles and is one of three peace monuments that rebels and government officials agreed to build with over 7,000 weapons.
Considered an ‘anti-monument’ by the artist, the work aims to create a space for present and future generations to reflect on Colombian history and will become part of a museum documenting five decades of conflict.

Fusing ancient technique with abstract form, Gabriel Orozco’s limestone sculptures draw upon his own art history. Conceptual puzzles featuring circular rotations, semi-circles and quadrants have been a recurring preoccupation for Orozco, whose peripatetic practice has taken him most recently to Bali where he has worked with local limestone carvers on works entitled ‘Dés’ (‘Dice’).

White Cube artist Antony Gormley has created a teleportational sound portrait of his cathedral-like studio for the LP ‘Sounds of the Studio’ (2018). The noises of hammers, grinders, fans, welders and other instruments reverberate in the vast caverns of this acoustic space.
