We visited for Lunch this week, and had the Easter Picnic Bench.

Absolutely fantastic! What a treat!

We don't like big meals so it was great to have three smaller portions. The waitress even checked if we wanted fish with the Vegetarian option or not.

The puddings were so lovely and so much to choose from, we couldn't eat it all, we were so full.

We will be recommending this to all our friends and definitely coming back again another day.

Such a great idea.

We were made to feel very welcome and the service was perfect.

Visited the White Horse on the 18th December at lunchtime for our works' Christmas lunch. The pub is very welcoming and was surprisingly busy for a Monday lunchtime. Due to a slight hiccup on our part, the staff were fantastic in sorting our orders and the food was brought out in a timely manner and without any fuss. The food was lovely and very reasonable in price. The staff are attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

It is a lovely welcoming place, that has a nice feel to it! Staff are always friendly and the food is really good, always a good selection choice! Highly recommend, nice little play area outside too perfect for kiddies on a nice day xx

Heard good things about this pub so went for lunch today, not impressed at all.

Sat outside and went to the bar for drinks, served straightaway. Went to the bar to order food, no one serving and had to wait, food served at our table in a reasonable time, asked for cutlery and condiments and was told to get them ourselves from a table in the doorway,, there were no napkins. Sauces were in pump dispensers so would have to take your plate over to the table, one of our plates was too hot to touch! You would think that cutlery and condiments would be brought to your table! Went to the bar again for drinks, no one in sight, waited and then a waitress appeared out of the kitchen to clear tables, had to ask her if she could serve us drinks!

Food was ok, nothing special, just average pub food! Don’t think we will be rushing back!

We went last night and although the young lad on was lovely the food was really disappointing and other service not great. Special Thai green curry was oily and 3 bits of chicken in. We’ve come here a lot for lunch and dinner and something has massively changed with the food options and service. we said to the waitress when she collected our half eaten plates that we weren’t happy, and nothing was said. Really really disappointing.

Sadly a nice pub and an ok-ish meal was really let down by appalling service.

We obviously understood it was busy with many people out for a Sunday roast and had 2 pleasant rounds of drinks. However after waiting an hour for our food we were told that it was being plated up, 20 minutes later still no food but were told it was being plated up, again!? Standard poor excuse to fob people off.

An incorrectly taken order meant we were one meal short when our food eventually arrived & it was never fully delivered, we were just given extra veg but 3 people had to share a piece of meat the same size as given for 2 of us sharing another meal (although the waitress told us it was right, that meal was wiped from the bill upon querying that the order had indeed been taken wrongly).

The fondue gimmick is just that sadly. 3 people meant to share from one long narrow plate for cutting meat and vegetables on was absurd, the waffle Yorkshire’s were dense and rubbery and the veg dishes were in a pool of oil. It’s a good concept but has not been executed well at all. Bring things out on a sharing platter fine, but let people eat off smaller individual plates rather than dripping hot fondue gravy everywhere. The fact they had booked a large function on the Sunday of our visit and fully booked the restaurant too probably means they just couldn’t cope.

Multiple tables complained while we were there, 1 also had a meal missing, 1 waited 35mins just for a drink order to be taken but no food order, 1 returned their meal to the kitchen and was given it back saying there was nothing wrong with it! Very disappointing!

Writing to warn others as we will definitely not go back, a friends booking has been cancelled already as our family birthday celebration meal was slightly marred by this experience. Hope others have better experience than us!

After seeing lots of advertising on Facebook for the ‘Summer Picnic Bench’ we booked a table for last night. It was my son’s 4th birthday, so we were very excited about trying something new. What a disappointment though The cleanliness of the pub was not good - lots of dirty tables and empty glasses - no one around that seemed to be clearing up! We had to go round to the bar to ask where we were supposed to go. Picnic benches came out and we were very disappointed- first of all the drinks were just apple juice and not virgin mojito’s (adults) and fizzy orange (children’s). There were doughnuts missing on the children’s bench, pastries were tasteless, and the puddings were not edible tbh! The icing on the cupcakes looked like a lump of melted butter, the cheese cake was a curdled mess(and I tasted a small bit and it was sour!). The lemon trifle was basically a lump of whipped cream with some lemon curd tossed in! Very disappointing as we had travelled 35 minutes to get there as it looked so good on FB. Not once did anyone come over to see if the food was OK, no spoons were brought out for the puddings (not that we ate them), when we asked for ketchup it took about 10 minutes before we were brought any. My husband went to ask to speak to the manager, took her ages to come over. She promised to sort the bill, as I said I wasn’t happy paying for that quality - but we only got £11 off the bill and still had to pay £46 for the four of us - appalling! Would never go there again - we only paid the bill because we are decent people and would always pay - but in hind sight we should’ve insisted on a full refund as the experience left such a bitter taste, and made me feel awful to have taken my son there on his birthday! I am hoping to get a response to my post! Would not recommend at all!

TERRIBLE! Will never return. The staff are rude and have no customer service skills whatsoever when they messed up our booking for completely the wrong time tried to ask if my mother had a different name rather then apologising for their mistake, we were just pointed to a table to told to sit down, on a very sticky table I might add. Drinks weren’t ordered for 20 minutes and the drinks were not made with any care whatsoever and the waitress didn’t even know what gins were sold! Waited 50 minutes for the picnic bench to come out and it was nothing compared to pictures nor did it match the description of what was included with it. It was a treat for my mum for her birthday and we had called prior to get some candles put in her cakes which wasn’t done either so was massively disappointed when it come out. It looked like it had just been slapped together with no effort. 4-5 girls just talking behind the bar rather then cleaning and tidying a busy and dirty restaurant. I could go on but I think this is enough to make people realise this place really isn’t worth the effort or the drive!!

I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. The picnic benches are over priced and not served as advertised e.g. not all hot food was home made and when querying this was lied to by one member of staff, then another member of staff later confirmed certain items were in fact not home made. Also the items served were not as advertised. A friend of mine was also served raw pink chicken.

Lack of service and then the service that was provided was awful, the lack of service is not a fault of the waiting staff but a fault of management leaving the establishment understaffed and with no-one in charge. However i would recommend training in customer service skills as the way we were spoken to was highly unprofessional, whilst i appreciate your understaffed establishment may incur additional stress on waiting staff this in turm is not the problem of the paying customer.

So if you like to eat over priced and also raw food whilst being insulted this is the place for you.

There is only one good thing I can say about this experience and that is the Chef (didn't catch his name) has excellent customer service skills and the ability to speak to customers in a professional manner (perhaps you could all get a lesson from him).
